I took my car to Numidia Dragway a week after I got it (1300 miles on the car) and ran with street tires. Messing with the different modes sport plus, track and drag I ran 12.5 with each. Each mode had traction issues but at different points of the track and each mode picked up a few hundredths. 60's were high 1.9s. Mph 113-114
I'll be installing my vortech kit this week and wanted to get some final NA times with my drag radials (and renegade axles). Unlike my past cars I didn't see much improvement in my times although the car felt like it was glued down nicely the whole way. (2)12.5 and (1)12.4. The DA was about 1k higher today, @3k,versus last time but I really expected to see some times in the 12.0-12.2 range. The car felt like a dog off the line and 60's were (2) 2.0 and a 1.9. mph were 113-114. All were in drag mode with traction control fully off.
I have the 3.15 rear gears and these radials are almost an inch taller than the stock tire. I'm assuming this was a big factor.....I'm hoping with the supercharger these gears will feel perfect getting through the first few gears.
Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with their GT and if some 3.55s would be better suited even with the vortech installed? Or am I just used to higher torque cars and this is going to take some getting used to?
