I took my car to Numidia Dragway a week after I got it (1300 miles on the car) and ran with street tires. Messing with the different modes sport plus, track and drag I ran 12.5 with each. Each mode had traction issues but at different points of the track and each mode picked up a few hundredths. 60's were high 1.9s. Mph 113-114

I'll be installing my vortech kit this week and wanted to get some final NA times with my drag radials (and renegade axles). Unlike my past cars I didn't see much improvement in my times although the car felt like it was glued down nicely the whole way. (2)12.5 and (1)12.4. The DA was about 1k higher today, @3k,versus last time but I really expected to see some times in the 12.0-12.2 range. The car felt like a dog off the line and 60's were (2) 2.0 and a 1.9. mph were 113-114. All were in drag mode with traction control fully off.

I have the 3.15 rear gears and these radials are almost an inch taller than the stock tire. I'm assuming this was a big factor.....I'm hoping with the supercharger these gears will feel perfect getting through the first few gears.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with their GT and if some 3.55s would be better suited even with the vortech installed? Or am I just used to higher torque cars and this is going to take some getting used to?

Stock A10 GT’s are definitely dogs off the line. My stock GT with 3.55’s ran multiple 12.5’s at 115mph with a 2.0 60’(On M/T drag radials.
Now it’s tuned on E85, Kooks, no cats. It runs 11.3 at 123mph with a 1.79 60’.

It was absolutely because the tires are an inch taller. Better traction be damned they're still harder for the car to pull. But you are right that after your mods everything will be fine.

16psi cold. 4-5 second burnout. They won’t spin.

Grip was not an issue at all and I forgot you asked about the psi, I was running 22. That's around where I usually start and come down a little if I have grip issues. My Monte Carlo with a built 406 always needed to get down around 18psi to launch well but that was making much more low end torque.

My 18 base with a10 and 3.15s went 12.05 stock. Added VMS drag set up fronts and rears and only picked up to 11.9. Traction wasn't an issue with the stock rubber with good prep but wasn't consistent when the prep went away. It didn't pick up much over the stock set up, but was dead consistent with the drag radials. Fast forward to e85 tune and the drag setup really starts to come into play. I then needed the drag radial for traction. Stock tune 3.15 cars are dogs down low, but once tuned they'll fly even n/a. I'd definitely keep those gears if adding boost.

If you weren't spinning horribly on the stock tires, the DRs probably aren't going to cut your times enough to make up for an extra 1000' of DA and the tire height increase (hurting gear ratio). That's a lot of DA to overcome. Once you finish your planned mods, those tires will be just what you want.

When I was on street tires I would have *killed* for a 1.9 60'! I was lucky if I could get a 2.0.. Most were 2.1 to 2.2... Drag radials have helped me move to 1.7 to 1.8 on average. I wouldn't even go to the strip on street tires anymore.. Went sideways once at 80mph and that was enough!
