I've been thinking that there is a slight chance that I might want to text those ponies on my new mustang. I'm thinking that cops might pay more attention to my ruby red mustang than they do currently with my 2000 sebring. I currently use Waze and LOVE it, but it would be great to have a second 'set of eyes' to help keep my insurance down.

So I checked out this forum and read that a few of you are using the Valentine One, something I had never heard of before. I did a Google search to learn more and found this excellent article comparing it to the Escort PassPort Max: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...ng-kings-valentine-one-vs-escort-passport-max

I was hoping for a high end system that would be hidden from sight. There is nothing more obvious when a cop walks up to your door for something, than having a radar detector stuck to the front window. Anyone familiar with built in systems? Or are either of these installable? Love to find a place in the new mustang dashboard to make the system built in.

Anyway, thanks for the conversation starter...
Valentine One and Escort RedLine are the top dogs in detection. I have the RedLine and love it. Saved me from several tickets already. I mounted mine to the mirror with a mirror tap. Radars are legal except for Virginia, Washinghton DC, and military bases so no issues with cops in FL.

I bought an escort 9500ix , not a fan of it at all POS works whenever it feels like it. Going to upgrade soon , thinking about the escort max2.
I think there's a problem with your unit or the usage of it. 9500ix is one of the best on the market. See reviews on Amazon where people return the Max2 and go back to the 9500ix... seems it's more feature rich and less functional.

Haha after reading all the positive reviews that's what I was hoping , it being defective and all. I bought it through Amazon and it worked like a Champ the first 2 days! However after that it wouldn't give me the KA bands readings like it did straight out of the box. In facts the only readings it would give were automatic doors and "Your Speed is..." signs, X bands. I had it replaced because of this and the second model did the exact same. So maybe the ones Amazon are sellings me are defective?

Going straight through Escort this time when I get another.

Sounds like you set it up wrong and disabled the ka band and the auto learn feature.

If you disable the KA band by unplugging it to put it up at the end of the day then yes that may be the problem!

Just posting some pics of how the install went. I think it might be a tight fit for the mirror mount, I will see if I will install that in the future.

Anyone else with a mirror mount and Escort 9500 having issues acquiring gps signal? It can take 5-10 minutes before I get a lock and then I may lose it again later. Using the windshield mount I have no issues...

I haven't had any issues, except as normal for certain areas/weather conditions. I always seem to lose signal driving by these huge sand berms where there's a dump. I'm guessing one of the satellites is at a very obtuse angle to the horizon so it just kills coverage with tall dirt mounds in the way.

Other than that, no issues. Then again, I installed full ceramic tint because I've had some issues with the hybrid stuff causing some minor drop outs in the past.

I swear my issue happened after the last firmware update. I need to check to see if you can get preview updates.

Thanks very much for the pics! I was hoping someone would post something about that mirror power adaptor. I'd like to do the blendmount as well but as you said it's really tight under the mirror. Hopefully someone will post pics if they can get it to work.

No problem, if I do the mirror mount I will post it as well. Also when inserting the pins you may have to try a different angle to get it to slide in all the way. Once it slides in, it stays in pretty good, you wont have any problems with it popping out.

I ordered a car with adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring - does anyone have experience with the Mustang's sensors for those systems setting off detectors? Different cars seem to use different bands - some set off some detectors, and some don't (that's what I can gather from the web so far, anyway). I'm considering either a Valentine 1 or a Passport RedLine.

(background: My old car had 130hp, downhill with a tailwind...my new GT will have 435hp. I have absolutely no plans to drive recklessly - it's just that police in my area have been known to pull people over for accidentally doing 33 in a 30, so I just want to minimize my chances of getting a ticket and sending my insurance skyrocketing)
