Radar Detectors

Anyone have good advice on the best radar detector? I’m in between the Uniden R8 and Escort Redline 360.

I'll throw the Valentine One, Gen 2, into the discussion. I have had Valentines for years and always felt they provided excellent warnings. I just avoided a laser speed trap last weekend based on my detector's warning, which surprised me. I had always thought the beam would be so narrow that nothing would be detectible until I was the target, but enough apparently "leaked" (was "scattered"?) from the beam aimed a couple of cars ahead of me that I got a sufficient warning from my V1 G2.

Both the Uniden and Escort’s are excellent but I’d also recommend the Valentine. I had the original a long time ago and remember a few conversations with Mike Valentine. Great guy and awesome product.

Like most products, I recommend researching and picking one based on your needs and where you often drive. Uniden, Valentine, and Escort are all great brands. I have a Uniden R7 in the Mustang and Escort 360 in the daily driver. If I had a 3rd car, maybe I would have the Valentine. You will find that most of us will recommend what we use.

R4 is the best long range and R8 also good if need arrows. I just slam the brakes to full ABS activation when R4 goes off.

Love my R7. Also I noticed K band is worthless on any radar detector. KA is where its at, I am going to disable my K band.

I can’t believe how expensive they are nowadays. I thought the Escort back in the day when I was 20 was expensive. I am still considering getting one for my trip from California to Florida

Highly recommend Escort 360 and 360 Max.
Run one in my wife's Edge and one in the GT

I have the R8. Has definitely helped anytime I'm out driving by telling me which direction it's alerting for. As said above, K-Band is pretty much useless but whenever it chirps, I'm on the alert.

Also, the radar detector plus using Waze for GPS is awesome. I use Waze for the longer drives.

R7 here, just think of the money as the price of a lawyer for one ticket. Arrows are well worth the extra cash.

If I remember correctly the my original Escort was $299 and my first Valentine was $499. That sound right?
