Looking at radar detectors.

Lots to choose from in varying price points. This would be to compliment the waze app which is pretty good at outing the traps.
The osmo radarlite was one of the units I wanted to buy but their website kind of sucks to order from. And the product description says nothing about power supply or mounts. Curious as to what you folks are running in any vehicle.

I have been happy with the R7 and its great on road trips. Its picked up radar from police way ahead of time. I don't use it to excessively speed, but as a precaution to be mindful of my speed. We all know how these cars are!

I agree with this, with the caveat that the R3 is almost as good for far less money. If money is no concern, definitely spring for the R7. But if you only speed once in a while, the R3 will do you well.

Also worth researching how common laser is in your area, since without a jammer on top they're all pretty useless there.

Uniden R7. The arrows make a huge difference with situational awareness. Mounted with mirror tap. Also running garmin mini2 dashcam. Waze is crowd sourced info good in cities but not good away from them.

I have the V1 Gen2 and use it in combination with the JBV1 app. The app (Android only) gives a TON of extra capabilities that the detector itself can not do like crowd sourced police sightings, weather radar, statistical data and even aerial patrol.

Escort max’s here. I’ve never had much luck with the app stuff but that may be because we’re not that high on the population scale. I did buy all mine off ebay in like new for less. Valentine is really good to.

Years ago I used a radar detector and just sat it on my seat and it picked up pretty good, I always knew the range would be less. With the newer radar detectors like the R7, would it be worth it if it wasn't put on the windshield? I don't care about the money part, just if it would still work half way decent.
