Got a Valentine One radar detector for myself / Christmas :)

It comes with 2 cables - 1 coiled, 1 strait.

I don't want to tap into the rear view mirror because I want to use the bluetooth adaptor and that has to be plugged into the cig adaptor block in accessory.

I zip tied the strait cable to the black wire housing of the rear view mirror, then around the trim on the passenger side, down the a-pillar and in between the gap of the glove box and dash, then down to the cig adaptor.

Around the a-pillar, it's really loose - I thought it would be a tighter fit but every time I touch it, it moves - so it'll probably move when I'm driving.

Any better path? Take off the a-pillar trim and put the wire behind it so it stays? Any other ideas how to use the blue tooth accessory AND tap into the rear view mirror power? I'll order the wire pig tails - that's no problem, but I'd like to use the BT adaptor.

Get some liquid nail at Home Depot make sure the cable is tight, them fill it full, wait 2 hours, it WON'T move now when you drive.

I routed my dash cam behind roof trim and behind the A-pillar (make sure it does not interfere with the airbag). I then routed it under the dash, under the center console where it pops up beside the passenger seat and into the center console cigarette lighter. All wiring is totally concealed...save for a small nearly individual portion next to the passenger.

You can roll some tape around a portion of the wire so that it’s more snug in the a pillar. I actually have my cable go under my floor mat instead of between the glove box trim.

What does mirror tap have to do with 12v cig port?

Wrapping some tape around the wire sounds like a good idea - didn't occur to me.

? I've seen a lot of people tap into the mirror power. I didn't want to do that because the valentine has a BT adaptor that plugs into it's cig adaptor for power / communications and i want to use the BT adaptor.

Taping into the mirror power would obviously greatly reduce the length of cable to inches.

Ah right. I forgot about that. I use a more basic radar detector so it never came to mind. I thought it was like a BT phone thing but then again that doesn’t make sense since our cars have BT.

I used an old school phone jack splitter and standard mirror tap for mine for awhile when I was using the BT adapter. After I setup up my custom scans for Ka I stopped using the Bluetooth adapter.
