Quieter then "Quiet mode"?

All, I'm in a weird dimension where my local racetracks and auto-x events have extremely low noise limits. My local road course is 94db measured 50ft from the rear of the car - They measure halfway down the front straight and again around another high-speed corner as you pass. Other venues are only 92db. No exceptions - you get one warning, second offence is a "PFO"!

Utilizing "quiet mode" kept me just at the limit. However, as the laps progressed, I eclipsed the limit. I know it was me at the time as I had the track to myself (end of day, solo practice laps). Some guy's short shift or lift to avoid detection. I couldn't be bothered.

I've heard of guys plugging one of the tips on the mufflers as they think the valve may be getting forced open on the active exhaust, allowing more noise to escape. Does this sound right?

Has anyone seen this mythical part to make our cars run quieter than quiet mode? FML.

I currently have 100% stock exhaust.

One way to keep valve closed if you have active exhaust is set it quiet mode and pull the fuse (I think it's 34 but double check that) - this way valve will not open at full throttle which it would otherwise in quiet mode. Beyond you need to look at changing exhaust or the resonator at minimum which in Mach 1 is pretty loud.
Accelatec resonated x-pipe will be quieter.

Appreciate the response - I will look into it. I was also toying with adding additional resonators down stream from the OEM suitcase.

I don't think so - valves are only in two out of four exhaust pipes - I've tried it when I ran into sound problems on one of the events (and friend did exact same thing in his Mach 1 ) and nothing really happened. Long term - I don't know - but how often you are at full throttle ?

tell the community/organizer they need to measure using American decibels, and not Canadian/metric decibels. There's a 30% spread, just like with the CAD/USD.

You're not supposed to operate the AE with high rpm, large throttle in 'quiet' mode. It's perfectly sensible that Ford put in safeguards to open the exhaust when the situation is no longer "proper" for quiet mode flapper setting.

Respect for the Mach 1 stock exhaust! That sucks though. I wonder if a stock 15-17 might not trigger it...had I kept my 16 GT, a new exhaust was going on that car...I swear quiet mode in this one is louder than that car.
