Drove a Ecoboost Premium PP today. I liked most of it, but I found one thing about the premium that I really, really don't like. You have to go into MFT to change the HVAC blower mode (top vents, foot vents or both). To me this could stop me from getting a premium as I don't mind cloth seats at all and the HVAC controls are far easier and less distracting to use when driving. It is a pet peeve of mine that car makers favor style over usability when it comes to controls people use regularly. Heck, no one needs a max AC or max defrost button...replace those with HVAC modes.
So much this!

What a pain in the ass to have to use the MFT screen to direct air flow. The Focus ST had an ATC system as well, but had buttons for defrost, vent, and floor -- no need to use the MFT screen.

I've had three cars with ATC systems -- times I've used any of them, zero.

I hate this on my wifes Explorer.

One option that wouldn't jack up the price? Rear diffuser
Then you lose the differentiation of the trim models... one thing that many preferred paying the premium for... each and every package has its differences... base from a premium, performance package from a base, v6, eco from a gt. Alot of what is being asked is much like a person buying an eco then modding it to look like a GT. Like the current models... people are modding their v6 like the GT and even the Boss or cobra. Every car manufacturer has their differences in trims for each car or truck they have and limited options you can get with it

That's a dealer-installed accessory. I might add that to a base interior, but it's not the same as the lighted sills and exterior Pony puddle lights that the Premium adds.
Yeah it's dealer installed.

Guess I thought "ambient lighting" was the colored lighting girls can actually see.

If we're including pony puddle lights & sill plates into the definition, cool.

I would have been perfectly happy with a base model if Ford only gave me the option to add Satellite radio, heated seats, and a sport mode for the stability control. Satellite radio is standard in a 13,000 dollar Kia, and has heated seats as an option. Why Ford forces people to pay a minimum of 30 grand in order to get a Mustang (or 37k if you want the GT) with these basic luxuries is a mystery to me.

I realize most of this could be added easily.
I'll probably end up with a base car as I'm not really "feeling" the leather seats these days
I do think the center stack in the premium is aesthetically better looking.
Not sure what I'll get yet... Good thing I don't have the money right now anyway

Alot of ppl are saying driver modes. They are not on a toggle but can still do differentl modes sport, track, ext by hitting Trac control 2 times or advice Trac by holding it. Says sport mode activated on the main menu.

The problem is, and we can agree to disagree if you like, is that the base model looks like crap without it. If anything, they should have at the minimum made the entire area that would have the diffuser at the same material used in the side skirts and lip spoiler to make the rear end more uniformed to the rest of the car. Instead, the rear end looks out of place and breaks up the theme of the car. In the end, maybe that was Ford's goal in order to drive more people to the premium packages and not just the base model.

You got it on on the mark.... it's marketing.... differentiation between models.... something original to where the person who is paying the premium gets something different from just a base model which totally makes sense... I mean, if I had the money and bought an Audi R8 GT or the limited Competition and GT+ would you not want something that sets those different from each other? I would... that way all the cats don't look cookie cutter and appear exactly the same as all the rest.... why would anyone want to buy a premium if there was nothing to differentiate the other models/trims.... it would ultimately make the car boring in appearance given there are plenty of or.well be plenty of after market that you can spend on it to personalize your car. I would change my headlights eventually but there is a hefty price from 1 to 2g on the setup iam looking at.... same with exhausts... eventually there will be a four pipe exhaust in which the rear valence will have to get changed out if I were to go that route... heck, even side exhausts...lol. I think it's fair that they did that but at the same time, I could agree that it can be an option to the base models, at a price but that alone still compromises the model/trim differentiation

I think that is only for the settings on traction control

On the premium models, u do not have to use the mtf screen to change settings like fan speed air temp or what vent air comes out, all this can be done by voice activation. Also stero and navigation can be done without touching the mft.The only button u use is on the steering wheel, premium pack does some great things and is worth it for me.

Doing it via voice activation would be extremely annoying to me, and takes about 10 times longer vs. a button or knob. There are a lot of nice things in the premium trim and a lot of great things about MFT/SYNC integration, but sometimes the K.I.S.S. formula is just better. This example is one of them.

Wait wtf? You can't adjust A/C temp using those silver rockers next to the seat heater buttons?

There are two A/C temp control rockers, one for the driver and one for the passenger. They're wedged in between the seat heater/cooler and the rest of the HVAC cluster. Using voice control is convoluted.
