Cost is dependent on the installer and where you’re located. To have just my hood done would’ve been well north of $1K with Stek film. If you can find someone to bulk your hood for $400 then I’d say that installer is working for pennies…that’s how much my roof cost and it’s a much smaller and less intensive install panel.
My estimate of $400 was just for the PPF as a bulk roll from a 3M reseller to myself (non-shop).
I paid the equivalent of USD 260 + shipping some months ago for a size that covers about half the hood (and have about 1/4 of the film left I guess).

Can anyone who has PPF'ed the entire hood take some really good pictures out side in the sun, showing glare, etc over the paint and factory striped sections?

I had my vinyl stripes removed but honestly if all the edges are wrapped a picture won’t show you anything. The good films are nearly impossible to see even when next to a panel that isn’t filmed.

I'm looking to see how glossy it turns the matte portion in good lighting if it is PPF'ed over.

i don't have the hood sticker wrapped but if you get someone to post pictures that did, i can try to take similar pictures so you have a good comparison

if they cut around yours, I would like the same pics as yours, and is it ceramic coated all over, or skipped the striping there as well, etc?

Thanks!

i posted some pictures in another thread but i can't find that post at the moment. i'll take some this evening when i get home.
they ceramic coated everything. it might be in my imagination but i think the magnetic part of the hood stripe "pops" a little more now with the ceramic? maybe because its so clean i can notice the detail in it more than when i took delivery.

@Jimmy Dean by the time I got off work it was too dark to get any good pictures with sunlight. Sorry! I took a few with as many lights on in the garage as I could find. Forgive the poor lighting and messy garage……..stopped by the in-laws and they are of the belief garages are for storing hiking gear and other associated crap, not hot rods lol.
Pictures of the hood with PPF film cut around the hood decal and ceramic over all of it

film partially on the rear quarter. Without direct sunlight you can’t see it. The level of gloss and color of the paint looks the same in both areas.

I wanted to also give you a look at the rear because the lighting was a little better. The rear deck panel is wrapped but the gloss black section of the taillights is not. It’s not as noticeable in person but the PPF makes it look more glossy. I think in one picture you can see there is a slight increase in orange peel with the film. You don’t notice this over the FJG paint however. Must be due to black.

I’ll try to get good sunlight pictures for you soon. It’s supposed to rain the next 3 days but if there’s a break and some sunlight peaks through I’ll get the car in the driveway and snap a few pics

*edit* one more showing the front clip in PPF compared to the door with just ceramic coating

Great pics! those first two were the most important for what I was looking for. I can see some diff in the areas that are PPF'd vs not. but it isn't major. not worth commenting on for the protection from rock chips/minor scrapes anyways.
on the hood, they ran it up to that inner gloss line? or did they stop at the outside of the decals?

They stopped right at the edge of the hood decal. Same thing with the side stripes. PPF below the side stripes from front to back.

so on the sides you only went up to the upper ridge on the rear quarters? not along doors or fenders?

on the sides i did everything below the side stripes. on the rear quarters i also did the high impact area in front of the rear tires, behind the door. you can see in these pics the line where the PPF extends to. i left it up to my installer to decide what areas he wanted to do. he's on this forum. he has a gt500 and is intimately aware of these cars so i felt very comfortable trusting his word on what to do. happy i did because the car looks perfect so far!

I had a car that had PPF'd portion of the front of the hood. The seam picked up dirt and became quite visible. Also, in the winter the snow chipped the very edge of the film as well.

YMMV
