Paint vs powder coat brake calipers?

Hello everyone,

As the topic implies. I'm considering changing the color of my front and rear brake calipers on my 19 Mustang GT premium (PP1 package). Right now (as shown in picture) I have black rims with black calipers. I want to break them up a bit so the color I had in mind was red. Like my show stopper red interior. Anyways, is there a major difference between paint and powder coat? Trying to weigh my options before I comit/invest. Any help and/or guidance is appreciated. Thank you!

Take the easy yet expensive route and order up the OEM Bullitt calipers from Steeda and enjoy....

The powder coat is much more durable when it comes to standing up to solvents, like brake fluid. If you paint them, you can really increase the durability of the paint by using a product like 2K clear over the paint to ensure that the top coat is not affected by solvents. POWDERCOATED and never look back. Would never waste my time painting ever again. I bought brabnd new calipers one time, and painted them w POR15 RED 7X in 2 weeks for the ultimate protection and that paint was supposed to be the best stuff out there. In a matter of 6 months w car washes, the paint started to peel off. NEVER again!!! Im going to get the Bullitt calipers and call it a day, when im ready!!!

i used the g2 caliper paint. minus how dirty my calipers are when i wash them they look the same as the first day i painted them and that was like over 2 years ago. i wanted to get a second bottle and redo them just to make them a bit thicker and more uniform but for the simplicity i would do it again the same way.

I'm on the same boat. Lots will paint because it's easier. Powdercoat is more durable but there is so much extra work...

I'm gonna buy them powdercoated outta the box. After painting for 2 weeks, No thanks. POR15 was directly out of the can. There rust preventative paints are GREAT!!!! there caliper SUCKS!!! Junk!

If I end up doing the paint route. I was going to have my cousins body shop to paint them. So I know the quality will be good and I have the car back in a day or two. If I did the power coat route he would have to send them out and would be about a week-ish turn around.

Personally I would never paint calipers. Buying calipers powder coated is smart if you can find the color you like. Anything custom and you will need to find someone.

It hasn't been a priority for me as I installed the PP brakes which are performing just fine and black calipers just sort of blend in. Until there is a need to pull the calipers off and rebuild them, they will likely stay black.

I feel like the black calipers get lost with the black rims. Thats why I'm changning the color

The car isn't tracked. It's mainly a show car and a cruiser

Depends on what powder you use. Ceramic have some serious heat tolerance. I know my brakes have got damn hot and calipers show no sign of heat damage. But I guess it is hard to see burn marks on black calipers.
