Power cutting out

Long left handers at the track and getting a bit worse. Runs great when its not messing up.

Wrench icon and a “see manual” message. One code -P062C

Tuned with E85, bigger injectors etc.

3/4 tank of gas.

~98000 miles.

Its hitching and cutting out like its fuel starving. No smoke.

Idk, what should I look at? I’ll pull the spark plugs. Think it could be a fuel filter or pump or something?

Tune has been fine, but I can datalog it later, but its not really reproducable (AFAIK) on the street.

hey goodmorning, we’re you able to figure out what the issue was ? i’m getting the same problem with a 2015 mustang , vortech sc. i was ruling mine out due to a bad fuel pump because it seems like it cuts fuel. if you found a fix / cause of the issue please let me know what you did to fix it. thank you

The centrifugal force of the long left hand curve puts the fuel in the right side saddle tank. Thus starving the fuel pump of fuel. This then starves the engine.

Only fix is to keep the tank full, possibly a return system or a dual pump system that puts a pump in each side of the tank.

Out of curiosity…

For a full fledge track car, why not remove the saddle tank and with the trunk spare tire well, cut it out then install a Fuel Safe type of tank?

Has anyone attempted a tank conversion like that which would eliminate the saddle tank fuel starvation in hard corners?

It's exactly what Dan said. It is a well known issue with the saddle style tanks used in the Mustang.

+3 on this one. Not an issue on the street.

I've had the same issue in a BMW racecar. Once, the transfer pump went out and it would starve on long right turns when the tank was under 1/2. I figured out how to take the corner in a different line and turn the wheel to the left real quick which sloshed enough fuel into the other side of the tank and I was able to get through the turn without it starving.
