Look at this... The ribbed ac bundle looks to be much more over and the oher wires are more towards the outside of the car leaving a big gap there.

Here i dont even see the metal bracket and its sitting almost above the ribbed bundle.

The link would constantly break itself and make the name all ******** just take out the spaces before .com

I have emailed them and are awaiting a response. Im hoping maybe atvworst the s197 brackets will work.

I spoke with Bobs and they said the bracket is wrong but im jumping through some hoops to get the correct one.

@opt: it looks like you have two things going for you that i dont. Your bracket seems to be longer and your AC lines and harnessed look to be a bit neater and in better positioning. Like i said, even if i wedged it in there as is there will be no room to drain or fit a tube as you have. With a slightly longer bracket the can would be in a near perfect spot.

I didn't think of turning the elbow downwards like in Optimum's pics...that would help with the inflexibility of the hoses (I have the same elbows/hoses).

But, I already bought the JLT. Guess I'll take some pics of this thing and put it up for sale....kills me to give this beauty up, but at this price point I shouldn't have to re-engineer didly-squat myself. It should fit and perfectly. This isn't some homemade thing some dude made out of a tin can and sold me for $5.

I have mine set up like optimus's and its maxed out on height. Its still too low and hits the metal bracket or the pipe. Flipping it would put it lower. Bobs already admitted the bracket was wrong after seeing pics and me telling him it was just short of 5". We sorted it all out.
Mike why not try contacting them with pics of yours and see what they say. Worse comes to worse you have two cans to pic from.

Yeah, I guess I'll try that. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At worst, I can always return the JLT, I guess.

I received the new bracket. I did a quick measurement and it is about the same length within 1/16th of an inch and the part where it attaches to the can is rounded or slotted so it will not adjust or hug the can. I figured it would not fit but i tried it anyway.

Guess what!

It doesnt fit!!!!!!! Ive calling them back all day but the guy who handled the motorsports stuff never seems to be there. At this point im either going to source my own bracket or go with another catch can and take the loss.

You just can't "tweak" it a little? It's just strange that they have been shipping these since '14 they don't fit. Something is strange.
I tried for about an hour with each bracket. the bundles that are there wont move and even if they did there would be no clearance underneath to drain it. Another inch or two of length and it would be no problem. This is even ignoring that the back of the bracket wasnt radius'ed at all.

The only other idea i can think of is having a short bracket that mounts to the right and directly under the strut tower like on older models and then turning the 45 degree fittings around. I would have to see if the top tube would be long enough then too.

Optimum, can you do me a favor and measure how long your bracket is from can edge to the tip where its held in on the ground post? I would like to compare. It could be that the way the wiring is in my car it would be preventing proper installation but the tolerances are so far off, and some of the things (ie the metal retaining loop) dont have any way to adjust i just have trouble believing the wiring was so bad it would block it.

Sorry to hear that, Souldriver. For the price of this product, especially the "ultimate" version, it should be perfect right out of the box. Sorta like the JLT3.0 that cost half as much, which I installed over the weekend. I never contacted Bob's and after reading your post I'm glad I didn't b/c I'd be mad as heck.

I'm going to take some pics of mine this weekend and sell it at a loss. This catch can was my #2 modding disappointment. At least I didn't waste too much of my time in the "trying to get it to work" process.

I contacted him again and he said "oh it looked like it was wrong in the pictures thats why i had you switch it."

Well wtf! I sent him pics and noted the dimensions i measures. So i spent more money to have the same shaped bracket sent back to me and then they switches it to a lesser bracket that wasnt rounded on the can side and doesnt have a slot to adjust height.

He also told me i was the only one ever to have this issue. Hmmm well i know of at least a few. i also asked if there were longer brackets from other kits and he said no. Looking at pics there obviously are for other cars.

He did offer that if i made my own bracket i can send it to them to powder coat it :eye roll: im going to contact them to send my original bracket back.

I see in other threads people hung it from the front and i reached out to see exactly how they did it and how its holding up. From whatvibsaw it may hang too high and now that i cant adjust my height well fuck me i guess.

4-7/8" from can to end of bracket, 4-5/16 from can to mounting hole(groundstrap) You will also notice where mine is positioned on the can, in the other hole. I honestly do not recall if that hole was there or not, it's been on a long time.

thew new one doesnt even have an adjustment anymore but i did put the old one all the way up to try to float it over all the brackets with no luck. if it were a half inch higher then it would be find floating over everything.

I just dont see why if they made it .5-1 inch longer it would have much more space all around and under and not even come close to any of those lines. You cant test for every single cars set up but it looks tight in all pics i have seen.

I think mounting in the front may be the best, least expensive option for this now. I want to see if bobs will give me my radiused bracket back as the flat one moves as you torque it and looks unfinished.

Im fed up with this and with over 10 hours of trying to get this to fit i decided im going to sell it. No matter where i put it there was interference with it . If not the can itself then the ability to drain.

The only way to get this to fit would be to fab my own bracket from scratch, or take the current one and mod it so much that it "maybe" will fit but then cant be sold if it didnt.

This blows as i dont believe the other cans have nearly as nice lines, fittings, or can layout and it looked like bobs did the best job doing what the can is meant to do, stop the oil. Extremely Frustrating.
