260 total miles and an average, according to the computer, of 14.5 mpg. I logged 235 miles today with the dealer gas. Unfortunately i'm going out of town so I'll be taking a week off. If it weren't for that, it would be broke in by the weekend. This mileage is with a few spirited sprints and a lot of varying of the rpms

To everyone complaining about the 19-20 mpg in a GT please trade your car in and get v6 or ecoboost. No one should ever buy a 435 horse V8 and then complain about fuel economy. I've already put 3k miles on mine and I'm averaging about 18.5/19. The GT is for fun driving. I'm happy that as hard as I drive it I still get 19. Also, if you know when your car is arriving to the dealer call them and request 93 and they will put it for you. My car hasn't had anything but 93 since it burned the tiny amount put in at the factory.

First two tanks:
Tank 1: 14.21 (exploring the RPM range)
Tank 2: 17.41 (a little less enthusiasm with the right foot and realizing that 6th gear is usable in town)

So what would you call the Corvette then? Because its a 400 + HP car that gets 29 MPG on the Hwy...

19 or 20 is awesome... hell, even 18 for mixed driving... still better than my truck which has the triton 5.4

Im depressed that i actually have to respond to this ridiculous question. You cannot compare a corvette to a mustang. They are so far out of each others leagues it's insane. When your car costs twice as much yes you can do more engineering and add better parts to get huge power output AND fuel economy. But not at $40k

Really? Because you can spec out a Mustang to almost 50k.. which is the close to the entry price of the corvette.. So your argument fails

It also has cylinder deactivation which is technology Ford could implement to get the MPG's better. The argument of it's a GT mustang is just stupid; am I saying don't buy the car? No. But I am saying it could be improved.

TheRican, you need to think about what you just said for a few minutes. The cheapest most slimmed down corvette you can buy is still more expensive than a mustang with every bell and whistle you can add, and you are still trying to compare them?! Mustangs and corvettes are 2 completely different class of car. In your next post I'm expecting you to complain that we don't have the engineoutput of a Z06 or any other super car.

Ford could implement that but there is another cost increase they could also go with the same materials for body and chassis plus add the same suspension. And suddenly we have a 60k car and my argument is still relevant. For what it is, a pony car, it gets the mileage you would expect. Look at Camaro and challenger. Theit actually comparable cars with the GT are in the same ballpark no where near your 29 mpg. So again I say, if you want to complain about 19-20 MPG in the GT go get a base model.

I am not a believer in cylinder deactivation... period. Causes more undue stress to an engine as well as uneven wear... sure it saves you more or some fuel that's about it... in the long run... its not great more/less a gimmic to fuel savings.... there are better ways to fuel economy than relying on cylinder deactivation

So you're saying that when you add exactly the same options that drive the Mustang's price to $50k to a base model Corvette's list price of $54,995 (without shipping), the price stays at $54,995? I honestly did not know that...

Eco boost already has the start stop tech on it... it's ok... but better than cylinder deactivation
