Here you go.

Says regular gasoline in the chart so to me, that means 87 octane regular gas. Also in the owners manual, it says 87 octane also.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=35664

Also for comparison, you can look at the Audi A3 which I know runs on premium and is required and they have the chart with premium listed as the fuel

Ah! Got it - thanks! Looks like regular gas for me...

EPA tests are run on the standard configuration unless there's another configuration that will take up 25% or more of the volume. PP may come close to that with the GT.

I have had enough Mustangs with enough different rear gears to tell you it does make a difference, and not just one or two mpg. There are a lot of things to control for on this site, from driving style to temperature to gasoline type to what everyone defines as "highway driving." But all things being equal I would be completely amazed if a PP and a GT AT with 3.15 gears had less than a 15% spread on "highway" mileage. Really wouldn't be surprised at 20% since that's about what 3.55s would do to a 2.73-equipped Fox.

All that means is there's no free lunch. Everything (like acceleration and responsiveness) has a price, and in this case it's some fuel economy. Everyone gets to take his choice.
So what do you think the spread would be between an Auto GT with 3.15's and an Auto Gt with 3.55's with exact same options/tires (no PP obviously).

That is educational.
I assumed that mpg would be for all of the pertinent specifics of the car under the window sticker (which transmission, which engine, etc) not just for some of the pertinent specifics.

WAY better than what I am used to. That's going to be a very economical car, and a lot of fun to boot!

This is where the much recently confusing 33% rule comes into play. Only slightly confusing for curb weight arguments but none the less.

Any how the rule is that if more than 33% if the vehicles sold are expected be sold with a certain option, the epa test vehicle must include those options.

Manufacturers only have to differentiate between engines and transmissions. That's why there's only a manual and auto estimated mpg sticker.

Some other manufacturers take it a step further and specify each trim level. Ford doesn't do this with the mustang

Okay RB510, gotta ask - why the name Katie for the car? No obvious clues in the color or model, unless it's the Katie-litic converters underneath.

P,S.— Not judging, just curious — there's a Kia Optima named Optimus outside in my driveway as you're reading this.
:D
Sc00ter... no worries.

Ever since my first car, I have named my cars via word association.

So, in this case...

Batmobile --> Batman --> Batman Begins ---> Female characters ---> Rachel Dawes --> Katie Holmes ---> Katie.

That is, 100%, why she is named Katie. :clap2:

My previous car, a 2008 GT/CS (Perf White+Black)

it's white, black, and fast --> Space shuttle --> Spacie ---> need a female name so ---> Stacy(ie)

It is dumb, but it works! =]

Tank one averaging 19 mpg. Driving mode Normal, steering setting comfort, mostly city. The car has 86 miles on it, dealer put 93 octane in it per my request. Its a gt pp. Shifting second to fourth then fifth and when above 45 to sixth gear. The advantage is 3.73 close gear ratio. Car doesnt need first to take off unless u need to burn rubber and has power on each gear. Cheers.

Exactly! Another reason why I went with the V6 instead of the Ecoboost. By the time I am ready to buy another car I will probably have about 150,000 miles on this one at least... I would be a-little worried about a 4 cylinder engine under 21-25 psi of boost at 150,000...

Halfway thru tank #2 and I'm at 31.5, down from above 33. Been driving in sport+ mode the last couple days has brought the MPGs down, albeit rather fun!!!

I had much the same conversation with myself about the EB. The direct injection and carbon fouling worried me. I decided a big ol' Coyote and automatic would be the trouble-free way to go 150K in five years. But you are right, the 3.7 will do it, too.

That would be ideal, but note that all GTs have the same mileage ratings, base or premium, no matter the gears or tires. All those factors make a difference in the real world, but the EPA differentiates only between the engine/transmission combo.
