Seems people with the 3.55s are also getting good highway mileage..mid/high 20s.

Granted I only have about 233 miles on it but the mileage is impressive. It's spent most of it's time cruising at 4000-7000 RPM and mostly my abusive break-in procedure. Some highway but again mid to high rpm. I think it's about 14MPG. I hope to lower it further this weekend.

I actually managed to get it down to about 13.6. It's up to 14.6 or something because I was on the highway. Up to 400+ miles and filled it up for the second time yesterday and down to 3/4's of a tank. Didn't buy it for MPG's but I am seriously impressed with it.

My car: Base auto EcoBoost w/ 17s. I've filled it up with 91 since I got the car.

Although it's not a full tank's worth of measuring, i reset my trip counter prior to leaving my house in Colorado Springs and drove up to Denver. Mixed highway/city at the start and finish of the trip, with most up the interstate doing 75-80.

This is what I was sitting at when I parked in Denver. At one point before I hit construction entering Denver I was sitting at 41 MPG.

Surely something's wrong with how the car is calculating mileage? This was the first time i've had it out on the highway really, mostly I drive mixed city to/from work and have averaged 21-24 mpg on my first few tanks. Could this be accurate? Or is it likely that the car's computer isn't accurately calculating the mpg since it's still such low mileage / small amount of time spent on the highway? When I returned home, it had dropped down to 37 mpg but the trip back didn't allow for mph to stay as consistent due to traffic.

Edit: I'm also on snow tires vs the summer tires that came on it.

I got some pretty high mpgs around the Denver area once in my truck...I attributed it to drafting...maybe your case?

Don't think so, i generally maintain quite a bit of room between me and the car in front of me. I don't trust Colorado drivers heh.

Ecoboost - 1st 3 tanks between 18-20 mpg. Dam, that turbo really sucks up fuel.

Wow, that's really impressive. We might need to make a distinct post for each engine with a poll for MPG to see what the averages/outliers are.

Well you prob have the lightest model possible..a base EB with 17's.

I think it's accurate. I mean if you weren't in boost and you have 3.15's and an automatic I think that's highly possible...driving habits really determine MPG along with a few other things that differ between drivers (weight of car, weight in car, gas in car, wheels, temp outside, etc)

Extremely painful drive, not going over 60mph using Chevron 93. This is a one way trip, the only way to get a average is to do the same going the opposite direction. I would guess the average would be 27 mpg.
Impressive...most impressive.

I think short trips really skew the results. I give it a few days before I rely on the numbers. Still getting 22+ on mixed driving around town and highway miles to work. Down to 20 when I tested the Track Apps. GT w/3:55's, 93 octane, up to 24 on interstate trip without resetting at start, it seems to take 50-100 miles to increase significantly at a steady pace and speed. Less than 600 miles on the OD so I still think it will improve in the next 1000 miles or so. I might try a tank of 87 just for comparison.

Backroads driving, toodling around three towns in Ventura County, with fast canyon driving, 21 mpg round trip over 65 miles. Over 25-26 mpg on mostly freeway last week. About 18-19 mpg running errands to and in adjacent towns. About 200 miles total on car so far. Still in break-in period.

Is anyone actually hand-calculating their MPG or just going on what the computer says? I wouldn't trust that computer as far as I can throw it. You can almost guarantee it is being extra generous. Only takes a few seconds to check it against your trip odometer and the fuel receipt.

Hand calc is more accurate... trip computer only goes by the " at the time " mileage... it may be minus 2 mpg from the computer mpg showing as mine did

Had a question for the Auto GT owners posting in here.

What gear are you in when you are cruising at around 70 on the highway?

I just took a GT out for a test drive and my lord, that car got up to 60 so quick in sport+ mode in 1st/2nd gear.

Just was wondering what the best RPM/Gear for getting better MPG on the highway is going to be in the auto GT. Thx!

I've done numerous hand calculations and compared to the Ford calculations on several different Fords and they were all about 1 mpg conservative.

I trust the computer.
