Not sure what you mean by "tools..." Are you referrring to recommended pads, polishes, etc? What are you looking to accomplish with DA?

Don't call Polish people that! haha but anyway search for "Chemical guys" products on Amazon. They have pretty good start up kits with the pads and proper compounds to match. Typically you will want a cutting pad and compound to get rid of scratches and imperfections, then a polish pad and compound to clean it all up and a buffing pad in the end for that deep gloss shine.

Lake Country has a pad set for various cuts and finishes, good quality pads. As far as polishes go, depends on what you’re doing. Most of a time a one step polish will suffice. My go to is Sonax Perfect Finish. Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions 1 and Done is another good one IMO, and relatively inexpensive

I agree. Lake Country makes fantastic pads for polishers. Rupes does as well. Rupes also makes chemicals to match their pads (Heavy, fine, and finish polishes). Another is Koch Chemie. They make chemicals and pads that are color coded to match the pads. A lot of brands and types to chose from. We will wait for our resident expert to chime in later (in the morning for us in the States) as he is Down Under :)

Couldn't resist. This is from the days before political correctness.

Considering this is your first time, the following is what I would suggest for user friendliness -

Compound/Polish -

Sonax Perfect Finish - Most think this is purely for finish polishing, but it can be dialed up or down depending on what pad you use. The beauty of it is that it cut offer decent cut/correction but also "finishes" well. It's relatively dust free.

Scholl S20 Black - I get the feeling this brand isn't as well known in the US, but S20 is worth seeking out as it can offer more correction than Perfect Finish if needed. Again, dial up or down depending on pad choice.

Pads -

I'd stay with foam to begin with, as you get more confident you can start to experiment with wool and microfiber. Mustang paint seems to be medium hardness, so foam will get you where you need to go. If you new machine came with pads, you will most likely need more than what they included in the kit, think 4 - 6 of each pad type.

Rupes DA Intermediate - This is a relatively new pad, sitting between the fine yellow and coarse blue. Depending on what defects you need to remove, this pad with Perfect Finish would work very well. Another alternative would be ShineMate Blue.

ShineMate Yellow - I've found this pad with Perfect Finish to work great on Mustang paint.

Lake Country SDO HDO Blue - This is a heavier cutting pad, so if you have some decent level defects, I'd probably stock a few of these as well.

When ordering pads, make sure you get the correct size for you backing plate. Most pads should be 0.5 - 1.0-inches wider than the backing plate. For example, if you have a 5-inch backing plate, you would need 5.5 or 6-inch pads.

Hope that helps, reach out if you need.

I realize that this won’t be a very popular opinion here given that everyone has more exotic favorite products and brands, but Meguiar’s stuff is not a bad jumping off point. And they pretty much make a product for everything. Bonus: they have tech support that will actually answer the phone and talk to you. I’d say this would be especially true if you’re just starting to get a toehold in this detailing thing. You can always move up once you’re comfortable with the basics.

I like Meguiars. Some of their products are a little behind the times (mostly the waxes/sealants/coatings) but I don’t mind their polishing products at all.

Turtle Wax has come a long way in the last handful of years. Especially their Hybrid Solutions and Hybrid Solutions Pro line. Good stuff and not overly expensive
