I think you’re right and there’s merit to installing the aftermarket honeycomb air straightener.
Didn’t Ford install an air straightening device on the 2023 air box ?
I remember Mitsubishi installed them on the old turbo Eclipse MAF

Initially I was going to run with them all and see which reported sensible values
Bank 1 and 2 are all we have in the coyote.
Does the stang report one value, or multiple
It will show long and short term, you should also have a lbs per min channel.

Most of the early MAF sensors had straighteners. It was the screen on both ends of the tube.
you gain 10hp by removing it,
You supposedly gain 10 HP by removing the carbon trap. The trap is separate from the straightener.

For 22/23 removing the plastic mesh they put in the tube and traps might be worth something. putting jlt made 20ish whp more back to back dyno pulls e85 and headers were on before messing with intake.

Yes I think there about same I wouldn’t have believed it if we didn’t swap it same day and multiple dyno runs some of that tho I think was e content being realized in the tune cause every pull it seemed to make more and more till the last two. But there was significant bump in after the cai I’m not saying everyone should go get one I think a pre 22 with a drop in prolly just as good

There’s a member here who has installed a straightener into the Steeda closed lid and has no MAF transfer function issues.
Makes me wonder why tooners have so much trouble with aftermarket tuned required CAI's even with data provided.

Isn’t the JLT supposed to be comparable to the PMAS?
My first CAI was a JLT. Was no better than my stock 17 airbox. Just heated up way faster.

But there was significant bump in after the cai
Was the hood open or closed ?

I never did a before and after test with my PMAS (no tune required version), as I did all mods (LTHs, x-pipe, and nitrous) at the same time.

In my case, I had no choice but to go with a PMAS to allow the nitrous and fuel solenoids ample room to clear the CAI tube.

Open they leave them open for heat since car ain’t moving I get your point but two blower fans low in front of the car blowing air in I don’t see how the hood open could really help it since they feed from same snorkel in grille.maybe if we put one right on top of it just pointing out that 22/23 cars got the middle child treatment with the choked up intake.

I watched the whole thing they never closed the hood all I saw is open box made more power just like they do with the Shelby’s removing the lid. But that’s a blower car so more power to be made from simple changes.

That's just one example. There's many others including NA apps on the interwebs. Yolo did some good vids.
Hood UP will always make more power than closed with open lid CAI's, which JLT/PMAS etc are.

It's hard for me to trust any YouTube videos and their claims to be honest. There's a video somewhere on YouTube of a guy claiming extra HP by removing the intake and tube off the ESS supercharger vs it being installed. I tried it on the dyno, literally gained nothing.
