During the test-n-tune portion of cash days, had the opertunity to test the PMAS vs Gen3 airbox on the same tune. All I did was adjust the MAF table to accommodate the Gen3 airbox.

The Gen3 airbox was quicker, and MPH better than the PMAS.

Keep in mind this was with minimal mods.

Same temps, same humidity, same DA, same engine conditions.

Just putting it out there is some are on the fence about purchasing CAI for power gains on a minimal mod car.

The PMAS might be better with a power adder. When you get your nitrous tuned try it again.

This isn't the Fender PMAS correct?

Remember the old days when stock parts sucked !
The motorcycle industry had the same type of history up until the mid to late 1980’s. The OEM’s decided to put the aftermarket Hi Perf. Industry into a chokehold.

Exactly right. Not even aftermarket coyote cams will give a decent bump in horsepower.

I remember replacing my factory Mopar 440 cam with a purple shaft .509 lift 292 duration cam and that was 80hp all day, everyday, before matching the rest to it.

Now it's 1500 buckaroos for a 15hp gain.

Anywho I think this is a case where bigger isn't always better.
Most likely the air going through is way to lazy.

Thoughts @engineermike ?

I think you’re right and there’s merit to installing the aftermarket honeycomb air straightener.
Didn’t Ford install an air straightening device on the 2023 air box ?

Would lb/min, along with fuel trims, and DA be a good way of comparing ?

(I’m learning, and looking what stuff I can get out of the OBD)

That is the way without a dyno, and glad you understand the fuel trims affect MAF lbs per min.

Yeah, 22/23. Most here will claim it's a restriction, you gain 10hp by removing it, and yet run slower in the 1/4 mile.

"Air straighteners have some unique properties that make them useful in certain automotive applications, particularly in situations where precise temperature control is important.
One common use of air straighteners in automotive applications is in the cooling of sensitive electronic components, such as sensors or control modules.
By directing a stream of cold air onto these components, the air straightener can help maintain their operating temperature within a desired range, even in extreme ambient conditions.
Air straighteners can also be used to cool air intake systems, which can help increase engine efficiency and performance."

Does the stang report one value, or multiple (just messing around setting some dashboards up) :like:

1725750069758-dd.webp

1725750139536-zr.webp

Initially I was going to run with them all and see which reported sensible values before deleting the redundant ones, or are they called something else ?
