When installing the front Brembo brakes w/steel braided lines, it immediately became obvious that the driver side was fine, but the passenger side bolt on the end of the steel hydraulic tube was cross threaded into the stock rubber lines, which of course made it hellacious to install in the new steel braided lines.

Wouldn’t you know it, the driver side is fine, but the rear passenger side, SAME EXACT THING, but even worse. Can’t make it work. Christ almighty.

Any idea what the thread pitch/size is of the bolt on the steel hydraulic tube that connects the steel tube to the stock rubber line? (The line that goes to the caliper). It appears I need to use a die to fix the threads.

If not, any idea what it’s like to replace the hydraulic steel tube? I assume worse than anything on the entire car…

Bolt in question below properly mounted on someone else’s car

I just ran into the same problem installing my front Baer drag brakes. The brake line fitting threads are jacked up from the factory on the passenger side. I’m cutting the steel line and replacing the fitting. It’s metric, m10x1.5. I ordered some replacements from Brake Connect. It’s not a easy fitting to source. I also bought a “on-car” flaring tool. I tried to fix the threads but couldn’t even get it started.

Belmetric and Brake Connect both have the fitting.

What a giant PITA this has become… I managed to get the font sorted and figured it was a one time issue I’d never deal with again… BAM.

Thank you for the insight, I’m gonna try one last attempt with an adjustable die and it off doesn’t work I’ll be doing all this.

Thanks again-

I believe I found the part # for the front right.
FR3C-2263-AJ or Motorcraft BRTF206. Partsgeek had 1 in stock. BRTF205 is the drivers side.

Good to know they exist if I have to go that route… that looks like a nightmare to install, plus I need the rear so all that and then some

I know it looks backwards, I confirm it a few times before I mounted it. This is how the stock lines are mounted too. Weird

I think some of OEM flex line cast blocks don’t run the threads quite deep enough and it messes up the very end of the hard line fitting’s thread. My two fittings that were messed up didn’t appear to be over torqued. I’m just guessing 😉

Mine were straight up cross threaded… it’s just a very common issue with these specific bolts for some reason…

That is different, so all of your hardline fitting threads were messed up, not just the very end threads?

Both the passenger side where the rubber brake line connects to the steel tube. I switched my rubber lines for steel braided and it was a nightmare.

Man, I had my local performance shop swap the rubber for braided on my Mach when they were doing other workthey mentioned no such issues. I feel lucky as hell. And at the same time bad for all the BS you guys had to go through for such a simple swap.

I can’t believe crap like this doesn’t filter back to Ford corporate via the dealership mechanics. Quality is definitely not Job 1 anymore.

Glad you guys were able to work it out and that threads like this exist.
