From a very young age (before most of us here can remember), we have been inundated with "more guns == more freedom". Like a lot of things, it sounds ridiculous and horrifying if you didn't grow up with it.

So it goes.
Yep, you had to have grown up in this society to understand its nuances. That’s why I don’t comment on things in other societies that I don’t understand…I would sound just as dumb.

I’ll have to look into it again as I had found an article about it from a Pro-LE source a few years ago.
If you said Portland or Seattle... I suppose LA possibly. I know a LA county deputy. I'll ask him.

I stopped carrying a pistol about ten years ago. Even with training, I was more likely to injure myself or someone else than I was to ever save or protect anyone.
Based on what evidence? How lacking was your training? You think Navy Seals or Army Rangers stop training because they “might hurt themselves or someone else”? And before and jackwagon takes that out of context, I’m not claiming I or anyone else is a SEAL/Ranger….so miss me with that noise.

The point is training is exactly that…practicing so much that what you do when it counts is second nature. It’s the bumbling idiots who end up shooting themselves or others, not those who train consistently and train well.

Rubbish. History is replete with WHY that statement is correct, and not horrifying at all.

Are there people who used their weapons for evil? Hell yes. But when the problem can be solved by the next person over in 5 seconds, it tends to put a damper on things.

There was a major news network who did a ride along with an LAC sheriff a decade or so ago. They stopped the car and when asked why the sheriff said “we don’t go beyond this street unless we are en-masse and fully kitted out”.

Interesting, so by what expertise are you claiming? "Miss me with that noise" There might be some who are on this thread. RLTW

I am a student of history. Also take the traditionists opinion of the American Constitution and Bill of rights with it applying today more than ever. While it's your right to differ and I respect this.

That said, what's sad is we are heatedly discussing societal decay in the USA and the World. In the end, and again IMO, it's a people issue and poor government leaders. It's a hard fact-take a walk and visit other so called advanced or depressed nations with open eyes.

Now back to Mustangs-Let's start a thread mine is better they yours. Just kidding

Certain parts of south-central Los Angeles, certain streets of Southside Chicago, a few areas of Baltimore. I’ll have to look into it again as I had found an article about it from a Pro-LE source a few years ago.
I've spent some time in Chicago for work over time and I forget the specifics, but there was essentially a longitude made by a certain road or street that it's recommended that a person shy away and go back north.

Once I was working with a crew overnight at Union Station on an installation (the inner workings and underneath of which is fascinating), and I accompanied a guy to a shop on the south side around midnight or after for a few items. Gang members aplenty strolling about, and I was plenty nervous. Thankfully there was no issue, you mind your business but keep vigilant.

Another time I was with two other guys making a visit to a metal stamping shop that was in deep south Chicago. It was broad daylight, and we had to make our way through an area that had been small businesses at one time but were all boarded up, with a burned out car here and there for effect as well as a few locals standing around. I don't spook easily, but we were getting eyeballed hard on the way through and I was on high alert and hoping the rental car didn't suddenly shit the bed. The stamping shop was like a prison, walled in and surrounded on all sides by barbed wire and one automatic gate. I felt safe once there, but the trip in and out was the only time in my life I was legitimately concerned for my safety in a big city.

It's one of my favorite big cities, but heed the warnings....
