I'm confused... what was the subject again?
Where to carry a pistol in a mustang.

I carry mine in the center console. If I get nervous, aggressive driver, I will place it in my lap so I have easy access if needed.

I have this, but can't find a good place to mount it.
I haven't checked but if the dash panel under the steering wheel does not have an airbag in it then you could mount that magnet to that panel so it would be right within arm's reach next to steering column, just my thoughts.

I’ll admit this thread was TLDR but this right here makes sense and if your state allows it‘s pretty much all that needs to be said.

Now back to Mustangs-Let's start a thread mine is better they yours. Just kidding
yeah but you're from Allentown. Allentown drools, Hatfield Rulez!
(I went to North Penn)

Ok Ok, you guys have one of the very few velodromes, so you can be cool too.

Can we charter an AirGas truck full of some noxious gas and pipe it into the Capital one of these days after chaining the doors and thereby spare the country a few hours of bloviating? :)

I stepped away for a few minutes. Expertise being a Seal/Ranger or assigned to a unit?
No, I’m not a SEAL or a Ranger. However, I am a retired AFSOC flight engineer. I’ve worked with just about every SF team we employ. While this doesn’t make me privy to their inner workings I have enough third hand knowledge to know how much they train simply by how much they’ve trained with the crews I’ve been on. Everything we do is training until we are in a combat zone…

Most likely our paths crossed. Have tremendous respect for what you did.

I'm 6'3" 265ish and I like to sit closer to the wheel than most people 2 or 3 inches shorter than me do. It would definitely get in my way on this side of the center stack.

I carry the gun in my Mustang the same place I always carry, on my right hip (I'm right handed). If the gun would need to be used, my right hand goes down and unbuckles the seat belt, acquires the firearm and draws all in one motion. Gun comes out with muzzle pointing straight forward, up and over the steering wheel and toward driver window if that is where the perp is (never covering anyone in the car or my legs). If he is close to the window do not extend your arms or perp could yank the gun out of your hand. This all happens very quickly, and I have practiced this in my truck. Dry runs to get the motion down and then live rounds.
I don't like to have my guns in different locations such as what has been discussed previously, because I'm used to drawing from the right hip. Also, I don't want to be handling my gun inside a car if I don't have to, especially if there are other passengers. (like unholstering when you get in the car, and then re-holstering when you get out).

The gun I keep in the console stays there. That is it's home.

Good luck with that, being in NY you going have a hard time getting a permit to carry. NY is one of the hardest states to get a permit in. The other really hard states are Mass, IL, NJ, and Hawaii is the worst.
Since the SCOTUS struck down the NY requirement to show good cause/reason for the permit, Hawaii also was "forced" to issue permits. They do issue permits now but the Legislature rammed a lot of bills through that essentially makes almost everywhere outside your home as a "sensitive area" where you can't carry. That's how blue states work so it makes the residents sad and blue.
