That really is a confusing part, it might be more understandable if we are talking Camaros or Challengers here, but pickup trucks are a totally different class of vehicle and you would think they would all understand that.
Yeah it’s a head scratcher. Not sure what they’re trying to prove but I’m not taking the bait. Oddly enough, it’s usually Toyota’s or Silverado’s. Every now and then it will be a Ram, but a majority of the Ram owners (and primarily brand new Ram’s) are pretty chill.

this:

is where I see could be the issue.

1) How “quick” did you “catch up”…. I mean this is totally subjective, but I see this all the time - where “quick” isn’t “catching up” due to adhering to the speed limit or traffic flow. I see drivers do this all the time - as in “open in front, gonna WOT it to close the gap”…. I’m not saying you did or didn’t do this….

2) You’re transitioning from a left lane to pass (3) cars on the RIGHT and also are now in a “right lane” that will terminate for a “right only” exit.

By doing the pass on the right - that alone annoys the F outta me…. Especially when the driver KNOWS it’s a “right only” lane for a turn off or exit - and then they get in it to blow by the left lane traffic so they can cut back over in the left lane ahead of that traffic. It’s a dangerous move to cut right, try to make it past traffic in the left fully knowing the right lane will end and you HAVE to cut back over into the left.

To me - just from what was posted - you caused the events and subsequent action of the RAM driver - whether intentionally or not. You were passing traffic on the right, knowing it was a right lane that was going to terminate and were going to cut back in front of the left lane traffic.

Maybe the guy travels that route daily and he’s had enough with people doing the same thing you were attempting? Maybe?

I’m not here to judge - but think about your actions just for a few secs and re-read what you posted.
Yeah I get irritated when people pass on the right, for example, when there are signs saying merge left into one for construction, but this is not the case, the bridge is about a mile or more long and there are no signs showing the right lane is turning until the very end. The road is heavily traveled by 18 wheelers and tri axles, and the 4-lane bridge allows cars to pass all the heavy equipment. My suspicion is that his idea of tailgating and mine are drastically different, and it put him into the mood to look for any reason to show me what a tough guy he was.

we get all that stuff about seeing an a$$ passing at the wrong time but why do people assume it s their responsibility to call it out or police it? Live and let live. If you drive like an a$$ it will catch up to you.

Even if he did everything as you laid out the truck still was in the wrong. When this happens to me I gladly let them go. What pisses me off is if I let them go then they slow below the speed limit.

If someone is tailgating me I will pull over and let them pass. This usually gets me a finger or a funny look but they always run up to and tailgate the next car in line.

3 seconds or it's legally tailgating. If you are closer than 2 seconds I get irritated and will brake check or pull over and let you pass. Usually both. I love watching in the rear view and if someone is tailgating then decides to take a drink of something I'll rapidly slow down.

Maybe I shouldn't post that last remark........

I will say that generally speaking, Road rage results from someone doing something stupid to begin with, and then the other driver loses their mind and escalates the situation way past reason.

In the case, it does sound like the OP was driving some what aggressively. That of course doesn't justify the other drivers reaction, but sometimes we need to use restraint while driving these cars. This of course is easier said than done. Lord knows I'm no angel either. 🤣

Imo once you had the first interaction of him trying to actively cut you off, you should have just hung back. He clearly advertised his idiocy, lol.

Unfortunately there's terrible drivers everywhere that take everything personally. For some reason a lot of people see sports car owners as pompous dickheads just trying to "show off" which probably creates a lot of this type of behavior. They can't envision that it's possible to have fun driving or see themselves doing the same things if they had one, so this is what you get.

Break checking is a great way to incite road rage and escalate a bad situation.

What a clow

Go buy a half gallon hand pump sprayer. 10 feet of vinyl tube. And a tube coupler.

Cut off 5, feet run one end from the back of the rear seat(this is where the coupler also goes) run through the trunk out the spare tire area and zip tie under the car.

Use the other 5 feet to connect to the hand pump sprayer. Then when you think you'll have a shit driving day hook up to coupler, set pump sprayer in passenger seat..

You get the idea.

I know this is something I have to work on not doing. So far no one has rear ended me. Funny thing is some times they will get even closer. I think WTF and hit the brakes again. Then I can see their face get red and they usually start weaving, that's when I turn off and let them go.

In all honesty I only brake the first time when an animal runs out into the road...........

Happens all the time, fortunately the 350 has more than enough oomph to leave em in the dust.

I really love it when they are going 55 on a two lane road, then when it opens up to a passing lane they suddenly need to go 80 to prevent passing…and how DARE you pass on the right, might as well offend the Pope while you’re at it 🤦‍♀️
This is almost every passing lane ever and I don't get it. Right after you get through the passing lane they go back down to their previous/slower speed

Back in my miss-spent youth I hooked a windshield washer tube to the rear of my pickup. When someone was too close I hit the button. They usually backed off.

I’ll just leave this here.

I know it’s not all of RAM drivers, but you guys probably know the crowd.

I had to deal with stereotypes all the time when I had a 350Z.
I'm EXTREMELY surprised Dodge is that far down on the list with all the Charger/Challenger crowds doing crazy stuff that I see posted all the time. The rest of the list checks out with my personal bias sensors :cwl:

That is actually incredibly wrong.
What should happen is both lanes SHOULD fill with traffic and "zipper merge" just before the lane cutoff. Read your drivers manual, it's not only legal, it's the preferred method. People who get irritated irritated scream illegal don't know the law.
