The lack of PP with the automatic is a problem for me because I have a knee injury from my motocross days that will cause me problems for the rest of my life.

Another item that can potentially be a big cost item is the tires.
The AT issue ended up being the decider for me. As much as I love to play in a manual Mustang, I don't think I am up for 150K of daily driving in one anymore. And I am just not a summer tire fan. I checked on Tire Rack, and I just couldn't bring myself to sign up for $350-$400 20" tires that will last 20k miles at best. I am a fan of tire sidewalls, so the 18" wheels carried the day.

Not slamming anybody's decisions, but those are my considerations and priorities. My car will be more "gentleman's express" than "track terror," and I am really pretty OK with that.

..And still be one of the fastest cars on the road.

Maybe for you, but for me...at some point...probably after about 250 miles spun, I'll want more performance! Just saying. For hardcore drivers like myself; street, strip and now track...it's never enough and there's always room for more improvement in performance. However, for $2000+, it better be a nice start.
i think you missed my sig.

i will be ordering the pp if i go mustang, all the stuff is already on the golf R if i go that way..

i have a dedicated track car with all the stuff, i just feel that pp it is just wasted ego pleaser for those that dont get the car on track..

yet people will order it just for the gauges, and that is ok. not my money.

While the PP most likely will not get used to its potential on the street, that does not mean it won't be noticeable or more enjoyable to drive there.

did not think i was going to change minds, but maybe for some to really think about the real use for the 2 to 2.5k is going to be spent.

btw, and then you get the ugly black wheels! ;) :)

this is like the syn vs dino oil debate that is coming here. surprised it has not made it yet.

 Don't really know what you're going on about here but I'm giving him props for being able to do it on his own. Which is pretty awesome at his age, as not a lot of people are able to do it at such a young age. Whatever he did, he's doing it right. Cuz I sure as hell didn't. If I were being negative towards the guy I could see how you would say that but i'm basically giving him a "Good job" comment. I know most people are perfectly fine with getting their own satisfaction out of hard work but it's nice to hear it from someone else every once and a while.

Haha, I wasn't criticizing anything you said. Just thought he wasn't thinking about all possible situations people can be in when considering burning through tires. Sorry if my words were confusing :)

---

I wish they'd make some cars test drivable soon, as this is easily decided with a simple test drive. Everyone will feel differently about what is too firm or soft. I drive a huge percentage with my GF in the car, including spirited backroads. The softer the suspension, the more likely she will feel sick. She actually prefers a firm suspension. Other people can't stand it.

Wow! I didn't realize that the PP would tear M6g apart lol. Anyway does anyone know if the PP affects the ride height? Somebody mentioned a one inch drop. Any truth in this?

Oh yeah I also didn't realize that in "our world" of endless performance upgrades that members would be slamming the PP. I've read the pro and cons on this thread and see valid points on both sides; however, anyone of us would jump at the opportunity to own a Boss or Laguna (Boss) and that's pretty much what we are getting here with the PP. Just my two
cents.

I look at like this with the performance package not only get all those upgrades but you're also getting a set of wheels ..if you look at it to get an upgrade of wheels is at least 1000 from stock unit.. so cut that in half if you don't want the stock wheels... with performance package you got wheels breaks upgraded dash and all the other add-ons and of course those gauges ...so spending another thousand dollars all those awesome upgrades. I can live with that.

Plus, no spare tire. What do you do? I don't think it has run flats, does it?
I've had two flats in the past 20 years and never worried about it. Until last week when I got that second flat.

I had to limp off the road and call a coworker to come and get me then I called 5 tire shops with no tires in stock. I had to order from tirerack and have it delivered the next day, luckily. Then had to have another coworker drive me to my abandoned car for the tow (flatbed).

I had to take off work the next day (after I had my wife come get me from work, 45min drive each way) and have someone else drive me so I could pick up my car.

Long story short it was a serious PITA and cost $550 for two tires shipped and mounted. I'll make sure I have a spare in my next car.
