I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, not much different than DD'ing anything with a "sporty" setup: M car, Porsche, Corvette, Lexus IS models with F-sport, 370Zs, GT-R, etc.

You might have to shift an extra time here and there, but if you're already committed to driving a manual, again, it's not a big deal.

It's not like the car goes from 435HP to 700 and has a triple plate clutch, it's some nice suspension updates, brakes, some braces, it's great, but it's a street car and very easy to drive.
I agree with this and would say it depends on your reference point. If you are used to a sport suspension car then you'll be fine.

I have the convertible model and this may add to it but I find the suspension stiffer than I expected as far as transmitting bumps and shaking the car. It's not as refined as a Porsche or BMW but it's not bad either. I find the turn in and overall handling worth the extra bit of bumpiness.

As for the 3.73 it's not really a problem. I don't do the "start in 2nd" that gets referenced here and I typically go to about 20mph in 1st on the way up the shift pattern. I enjoy rowing the gears and if I want to save gas I just use 5th around town.

To me the biggest DD issue would be gas mileage. The PP encourages spirited driving and gas mileage suffers.

5. Headlights are bright, but they seem to have a cut-off point much too low. This is my first car with projectors though, so I may not be used to it. When driving on even slightly hilly roads, can't see more than 10 feet in front of the car when headed down then up hills.
I agree completely. I've been frustrated with the headlight performance. Maybe the long hood has something to do with it? Other cars I've had with bi-xenon haven't had the same problem or at least not to this degree.

DD mine. It's my first RWD car. First manual transmission car. First car with over 250HP.

Couple take-aways so far (owned it since August)
Excellent post, and an interesting perspective of someone coming to a GT/PP from something very different.

Great point, and nicely illustrated by the top quoted post.

I think you and I are pretty much on the same page, though in my experience with sporty BMWs ( earlier model M3s, Z3, 135/335 tuned) I think I'd say they feel about the same in terms of NVH (though I haven't been around current gen BMWs really, so it's probably not a "same gen" comparison).

I've got a convertible GT too, and I've been pretty amazed at the mix of handling, feel, comfort and compliance. It's 98% likely I'll even tighten things up a little more with some aftermarket springs (also for aesthetics). We have a couple of roads around here that are cobblestone, it's like the test track at Ford engineering :D and they're not too bad, it's shocking.

I'm with you, I start in first and love to shift! If anything, I need to shift more, I've been tending to let the RPMs creep up a little high when driving around town, because my last ride was so anemic under 4K - I've got to remember I'm driving something totally different, and while the Coyote doesn't have the same bottom end as something like an LT1 Vette, it's got plenty, especially with the 3:73s.

I got a set of winter tires and wheels for mine. I have had the car for less than a week. It's easy to drive in the city. I really enjoy driving it and shifting through the gears.
I went from a 5 speed manual from Ford Focus to 6MT on GTPP and it has been amazing so far.

I was spoiled by the Boxster - uncanny mix of sport stiffness and very minimal harshness. That said, I'm loving the PP - very involving drive.

I too drive around with high RPMs - I remember a thread where people were saying they shifted at 2000 and that just seems nuts to me. I'm typically cruising around 2500 - 2750 and even without trying to go I'm at least at 4000 before I shift. Used to drive the Boxster at 3000 all the time since below that was pretty dead.

I'm trying to see if I can get the MPG's up so I'm trying to remember to use 5th more but it feels pretty natural running between 2500-3000.

Just know it's going to eat the tires in 12,000 miles. So budget new tires you can get the all season Sumos and they do great in the winter. Just have a extra 1000 bucks ready for tires.

I daily my PP with Recaros here in Michigan and have zero complaints. I also do not do track days but drive pretty spirited. I just got an extra set of wheels/tires for when it gets cold out (stock Pirellis do not like cold/rain) and the car has been great thus far. Really glad I went and drove the PP and sat in the Recaros for myself. Many online post how uncomfortable they are for large guys and how the PP isn't worth it, but its perfect for me. Best thing you can do it just drive one-I knew immediately that I wanted a PP and could care less about premium trim (my decision was base PP vs premium non-PP)

I cant believe so many ppl complain about summer tires. I wouldn't put anything but summer tires on this car. Yeah the stock Pirellis suck but people act like theyre made out of glass covered in butter. It has been 30 degrees in the morning going to work and as long as youre not flooring the gas out of the garage theyre completely fine and mine have like 8k on them and are near toast.

PP is awesome, I wouldn't buy a 5.0 without. The brembos are amazing and worth it for that alone.

Living in Baton Rouge with the GT/PP and I still say 100% worth it. Yes, 1st gear is short but hey, it's also fun. I will agree with the tires being meh, but same as I did you'll fix that problem quick hanging around this forum.

I DD my PP and I love it. I drive mostly city mileage. I have to sets of wheels and tires for winter and summer use. Pirellis are really easy to break lose below 60* and in the rain. Yokohama Advan A/S made the car fun again in the Ohio winter. Otherwise, no complaints.

If 1st gear is too short, starting in 2nd gear is really easy. Hell, I can get the car rolling in 3rd lol.

If I lived in a warmer climate, I'd be DD'ing mine everyday. I've owned four Mustangs with straight axles. The IRS does wonders for the ride.

Buy it and enjoy!

I'm curious, to all of you guys who have the "wouldn't have a Mustang without PP" attitude, have you all driven the regular GTs/EBs for comparison?

Seems like "Gotta have a V8" is now "Gotta have PP"

yes. non pp and non pp vert. it is fine, it just had a floaty feeling too much for me and I didn't feel as connected to roads. my dad gets eb or v6 non pp premium vert rentals every week so driven those too.
