Update, He test drove a Scat Pack Challenger again Saturday, they were offering almost $6000 off sticker, real actual rebates and discounts.

He liked it a lot, but did not love it. We went over to the Ford Dealership where he ordered the Mustang, they had the one he Test Drove when he ordered, it had more options than he wanted and was missing one biggie, when the deal was done, they took an extra $2500.00 off the deal, so it cost the same as the ordered car.

We now have jammed into our tight Garage a 2019. GT Premium with PP1, 401A, Active Exhaust, Velocity Blue, Midnight Blue. Drove it somewhat gently all over Nevada total of 300 miles 1st 24 hours. It is quite the car.

Congrats to your son. Nice looking car. Sorry he could not get exactly what he wanted. Kids these days have no patience!

So you only got 24 hours notice or did you know it had shipped?

Mine has also showed in production since 10/10 I think EDD is 11/7. Don’t see that happening the tracking tool is a joke.

My order, GT, PP1, Magneride, was ordered 10/17, Vin in 2 weeks, according to chat with Ford Performance it is scheduled for production week of 1/7/2019 with a EDD on the tracking tool as 1/29/2019. I reviewed this with my sales rep. He said Ford likes to under promise and over delivery and it’s not uncommon for cars to be delivered much earlier than the original EDD. Fingers crossed.

My dealership must have a really low priority code or I'm not the priority for them.

You can find a lot of really good info on Ford's blue oval forums. From what I have see two major factors go into when a car is given a VIN and scheduling. What the dealer's allocation is and are the parts available. You also need to take into account that an order put into the system today would not start until the next scheduled week. The scheduling weeks are about 6-8 weeks in the future (closer to the 8 weeks because of the holidays) see below as of Oct 29th. So currently the scheduling weeks are in end of Dec/Jan at the moment for Mustangs. The shortest part is the actual building and delivery which seems to typically be 2-3 weeks depending on where your dealer is.

A dealer telling you 6-8 weeks is overly optimistic. I would think possible if every factor goes exactly as planned. I think based on what I have seen is 12-14 weeks is what should be expected with anything less or more not typical but possible. Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter. I just check my order, my priority code is 10, but it still in production since I ordered it 4 month ago. And it shows that the ETA is today.
BTW, they just update production date from 10/10 to 11/5 today.

I have a priority 10 code from my dealer. Ordered 9/20, was told 3-4 months. Received my VIN about 3 weeks ago, current estimated delivery per the Ford VIN/production site says estimated delivery 12/24.

No magnaride on mine.

Which leads me to believe there’s a wider delay.

Is Ford retooling factory's due to them cutting the product line and this is what is causing the delays?

No idea. But something is causing a delay. I doubt anyone special orders an EcoBoost so not sure if it’s just the V8s that are delayed.

I’ve had my PP2 on order since 8/3 and at long last received my VIN on 11/8. With a 1/21 est. build I’m showing a EDD on 2/26- a complete joke on Fords part and something must be very broken in their supply chain. I’m seriously debating canceling my order, but it feels like I’m already in quite feel at this point. My biggest disappointment isn’t even the nearly 7 months of waiting, but taking delivery of my weekend only car in the nastiest time of the year here in Maine.
