Now that I removed the balancer I noticed the front main seal is a little torn but isn't leaking. I figure I might as well replace it while I have it apart. Does anyone know the procedure for installing a new one? Do you install the new one with a thin layer of rtv on the outside?
i believe you only need to put silicone at the locations you where you are required to clean off the old. you do not have to bead all the way around the seal, just bead the couple spots when you close it up as per the service manual.

The seal I'm referring to is the round one on the front timing cover that the crank goes through.

The FSM links provided earlier in this thread don't show the crankshaft seal install. According to the timing cover guide this is the section you would want:

Refer to: Crankshaft Front Seal (303-01C Engine -5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS), Removal and Installation).

Let me know if you're having trouble finding that seal. I ended up ordering one but didn't use it because mine was perfect. Part number: FRONT CRANKSHAFT SEAL XW4Z-6700-B

Thanks for the help. I just ordered the seal so hopefully I'll have it this week. Does anyone have a printable version of this install guide?

Since I am not much of a wrench, can any of you helpful folks point me towards a reputable (and experienced) installer who can replace my OPG with a more durable replacement.
I live in Tulsa, OK but wouldn't have a problem driving to Dallas to get it installed by a shop with experience and a proven record.
My only other option would be to have it done at a local Ford dealership, which can be a bit hit & miss from what I understand.

Sent you a PM. Sorry, haven't been online in a few days before today.

Not sure about Tulsa, but I would bet that you can find someone in Dallas that is reputable and will do it for a fair price. There's a decent number of DFW guys on the forums that can probably chime in. I personally wouldn't mess with a dealership, but that's me.

Does anyone know if the 2018 will be built with revised OPG, crank sprocket, primary tensioners or TG?

It would be a nice revision, right?

Great question for sure. I know the added horse power attained from a higher compression ration and higher rpm resulted in Ford adding better and revised crank and rod bearings. I would think OPG nad crank gear would be in order.

So, has anyone replaced the oil pump bolts due to being TTY? Or just retorque utilizing the original bolts and factory torque specs?

The four bolts that hold the pump itself to the block.

I personally reused mine and I would say that's what the majority has done. I'm m going to look at the manual now. Don't remember those being torque to yield.

Yeah, those don't need to be replaced. They are just torqued in stages. Not tty.

No problem. You'll hardly think it's tight enough when using that low of inch pounds but its all you need. Good luck and take your time.
