The colored links should always keep it in time as long as the cams didn't move. As far as the last step turning the crank db252 aka buddy is wright however the Ford manual says turn the crank after the DS chain is on from one revolution from 5 o'clock to 5 o'clock then and additional turn so keyway is at 12 o'clock. It's does the same thing as db252 describes, just so other don't get confused. Or maybe I confused people more:headbonk:Well I was just getting ready to start over, turned the keyway to 12 and the dark links lined up perfectly on the pass side.
Sooo, paranoid for no reason haha
Yeah Shawn, you made me go back and read my post. Your explanation, more of the ford quote, sounds better even though it's the same outcome. :headbonk:The colored links should always keep it in time as long as the cams didn't move. You can do it, it's easy! I will help you if you want.Wish I had the confidence to install this myself. Got my parts coming in on Monday.
I'm an engineer by trade, very competent with wrenching, but never messed about with anything timing related. My only concern is taking off the timing cover, getting the parts installed and then having issues getting timed and back on correctly.
A photo set-by-step would be great, but I know that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Download all of the Ford manuals and follow them step by step and you will not have any problems. Hell you could probably piece together a step by step just from this thread alone.Wish I had the confidence to install this myself. Got my parts coming in on Monday.

Doing oil pump and timing gear is not a difficult task, don't pressure yourself into thinking It is. If you have even the slightest amount of mechanical ability you can get it done.

PM me your email that you'd like them sent to.Does anyone know how I can get the ford installation instructions without using Dropbox? I want to print it from my work computer and can't download Dropbox.
