I will start off by saying I'm not a noob to the car world, vehicular physics, racing, etc. I have owned quite a few various forms of "performance" vehicles - 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo, 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS (turbo), 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, Ford Probe GT. I've also driven quite a few performance vehicles on occasion - Lotus Elise, Mustangs, Mazdaspeed 3's, RX8's, etc. Typically all of my cars except the last one have been FWD, the last was an automatic AWD CUV. The reason I always owned these types of cars is because they were daily drivers, meaning they see up to 6 months of snow. I thought long and hard about buying a RWD car for a daily driver. Tires have come a long way, so I'm hoping for the best equipping my car with a good set of winters and driving on mostly plowed roads.

Long story short, today was another reminder of just how enjoyable a RWD car is. Entering a major divided roadway today through a long right hand turn with no traffic allowed me to utilize a bit of throttle (just barely enough to continue accelerating) throughout the turn. Even with the factory and very mediocre 235/50/18 P-Zero Nero tires, the feeling was just incredible. The sense of "rotation" you get with the push of a RWD just feels so right. To top it off, the suspension in this car just seems to work very well. You don't really feel the weight of the car until you really push it, but the sense of grip and thrust you get from the rear is quite impressive.

All in all, the '15 is just leaps and bounds better than the '14 overall, but of course no offense to past gen owners. It's small moments like these that remind me why buying this car was a GOOD idea.

Great work Ford! :ford:

you should try out a performance pack car, sticks around turns when warm out and easy to spin/slide when under 60 out.

I would have gone for a PP car in a heartbeat, but the 6 piston brakes really limits wheel selection - especially for cheap winter wheels, and I've heard through many sources the standard LSD works better on ice and snow than the Torsen LSD does. I figured non-PP + 3.55 was the best compromise.

Had multiple turbo Cobalts I used for auto-x and the Mustang does have a great feel to it. We will see my verdict when I take it to some auto-x events.

I think my V6 Coupe feels like a front wheel drive car. RevvdMedia I wanted to get the Probe GT when it came out but couldn't afford it then. Anyone think new Mustang looks like the old Probe?

Nope, because the Mustang doesn't have pop-up headlights :headbang:

It's fairly common knowledge, but if you didn't know, the Probe was slated to be the replacement for the Mustang back in the 90's...

Yeh I knew about that and their was outrage that was going to happen. I think that would have been a cool Mustang.

Thank your stars it didn't happen. Had the Probe been the 88 Mustang as planned, there never would have been a 2015 Mustang, or a 2005, or the 99 New Edge, or even the '94 SN95. The whole line dies out in about 1996, when people decided Probes weren't very cool after all.

I thought they were sleek looking. Now that I think about it Probe is a cool name just as the Mustang name is. So keeping both the Probe and Mustang at the time I think was good.

Finally had my first experience driving my GTPP over 60 and wow is that true! Been stuck in the mid 50s tops and was bummed at how loose the backend was. Took a hard turn to avoid a traffic light just before my house. She grabbed in 2nd and powered through like I've never seen from this car, straught acveleration no wheel slip. Needless to say I blew passed my house and made it home roughly 45 minutes later. It's supposed to rain the rest of the week but I can't wait until 70s and 80s!!
