The example I gave about gear boxes the cause of the failures was due to aeration of the oil. Foam won't lube.
Caused by? There are many things that can cause aeration. I agree with you that foam (actually air in this case) will not cool or lubricate. But what was the cause? All too often we simply say that it was the lubricant. Was it the proper lubricant? Was the fill level correct? Was the lubricant contaminated? What was the TIS of the lubricant? What was the condition of the equipment?

Please understand that I am not disrespecting you K4fxd. I have no knowledge of your qualifications or experience, and they may be far greater than mine. It is only to encourage everyone to ask more questions to arrive at a better answer.

I use what is recommended for my cars and is reasonably priced. Have not yet had a problem.

I just make sure it meets the Ford spec for LSPI, and that it's SP rated (the newest rating). Beyond that it doesn't matter lol. I've used Pennzoil Platinum, Ultra Platinum, Motorcraft synthetic blend, Castrol Edge Extended performance. All were great. I liked the Castrol the best so far.

n the end 98% of us never push oil to its limit.
This right here.

If you drive normally and don't push the oil to its limit, you will have 99.99999% no issue with any oil on the planet that meets or exceeds Ford specs. It's when you take your oil and engine well beyond factory specifications (eg. road racing, half or full mile pulls etc.) that you have to worry about buying more expensive and robust oils.

Most people on here will never get to that point, so any semi or full synthetic oil that meets Ford specs is perfectly fine regardless of manufacturer.
