My 17 gt350 started to consume some oil and wondering what amount will be considered excessive and enough to get a new motor. First oil change was at 1000 miles and it consumed 2 quarts at 3150 miles. (2 quarts in 2000 miles) I am aware it says i may consume up to a quart every 500 miles and I have seen others getting new motor with consuming a quart every 1200 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Its got to be tested by the dealer and be using more than 1 quart per 500 miles. They add in and verify ots got 10 quarts in it.....then you drive and dont touch the oil level....go back and they will drain it out and see how much got burned up...I had to do two 500 miles drives like that. Others have done different amounts.

this was my experience and OP you might as well wait til you’re under that threshold to take it in. if it’s increasing that fast, it’s only a matter of time

I bought my 2017 GT350R used with 3,500 miles. I first noticed a possible oil consumption issue after the first oil change. Working with the local Ford dealer I had to conduct 3 oil consumption tests. Each test consisted of the dealer doing an oil change measuring the exact amount of oil, then I would have to drive 500 miles (varied), bring it back to the dealer and start the process over again. The first test showed the car burning 1 qt every 250 miles, by the third test it was burning 1 qt every 125 miles, that's when Ford approved the engine replacement. BTW, the was never any sign of an oil leak, loss of oil pressure, or other mechanical issued, only the excessive oil consumption and really sooty tail pipes.

My advice would be to drive the car as much as possible. Many others who have had oil consumption issues they started with a little consumption and got worse and worse over time. Right now it doesn't consume enough for the engine to be replaced, but at some point in the future it might. Definitely drive the car as much as you can before the warranty runs out, so if the consumption gets worse with some miles you can get a new engine under warranty.

You probably had some bad intake valve seals. Did they scope the engine. They usually have to do a report to Ford that specifies what they find.

Drove the shit out of mine until I got below 400 miles. Started about one quart every 1500 or so.

I asked what the problem was, but according to the dealer they were not allowed to tell me, so I don't know what caused the excessive oil consumption.

What’s the status on those with new engines having those new engines consuming oil 5k miles later?

I’m at 3k and not a single damn drop of oil. New motors are gen 2 voodoo and seem to be better built and all R motors. I’ve only heard of one failing and it was early like first month or so. They don’t have the same issues the 17 motors do

Over 10K miles on new 19 motor and its not using much oil...perhaps a quart in 3K miles or so if that. I quit worrying about it. Its a solid motor.
