Got mine changed free when it came on early, including filter.
Supposed to happen to mine. Got dragged in, when I told them about the light coming on at 4000 miles, to have it reset. They couldn't do it so offered me a free oil change.

Booked it in and was told that there would be a Mustang courtesy car as it's a bit of a way for me to go and hang around all day.

They wanted it at 730am and apart from driving home from work at 3am, I still got up to get it there on time. was given something called a Kuga as there was no Mustang and 3 hours later they rang to say that they had reset the light but I could have an oil change for £240.

Told them to forget it, collected my car and then found out how easy it is to reset the light myself.

Complete waste of 2 days and a fair bit of fuel.

Mmmmm sorry rant over.

If you're in the London area, GT101 isn't too far away http://gt101.co.uk/

That's where I'm taking mine for any servicing. They're also gonna fit my Roush axle back as dealer won't do it
Thanks but I'm directly opposite the A12 in Surrey and I do love getting stuck at the Dartford tunnel, I do it quite often when I only want the A2.

Mountune would be a better bet, I think.

Seeing that 8 litres of oil is about £80 plus the oil filter, GT101 and Mountune's prices are pretty good.

I spoke to my supplying dealer today. They believe it is to do with not resetting at PDI, they suggest either take it in to Ford and have the light reset or leave the light on until December (when the car is 12 months old ):ford:

Shouldn't an oil change be carried out after the first 1,000 miles anyway?

Genetrally it isn't needed for modern engines. Ford don't recommend it, but they don't mind if you want to get it done. But it does lead to an interesting question; if the service interval is 10,000 and you change it at 1,000 - does that mean the "service" is still due at 10,000 or 11,000?

My dealer - Hendy in Eastleigh - did a free oil change and check at 1,500 miles, but didn't reset the oil timer; I am on track for a "service soon" alert at around 10,000.

So once again it seems we have a mix of experience dealing with Ford..

How hard can it be to get an indicator reset, why are some paying and others getting free oil changes (I would be sure to check oil and filter afterwards though:tsk:). I'll soon be at 1k miles so will have this dilemma myself!!
Managed to get it up a steep track to a holiday cottage in a field in the dales this weekend!

On a seperate note, what oil are you lot who've done your own using and where did you get filter from?

Sump plug is right at the back, and very low down, so I would say axle stands would be fine, preferable even, to being horizontal on a proper ramp.
Same here, the oil drains fine from the back of the pan. A faster if not more thorough drain.

I've changed my own oil twice now, the filter is a bit of a mess for me. I haven't figured out a way to get the filter out without spilling on the lower control arm but it's minimal so I'm living with it.

Ford Racing filters are bigger than stock so they make removal even more of a charm.

5w20 Magnatec & any random dealer should be able to supply the filter.

Oil is from Hendy on Ebay at £65 for 10 litres delivered. Filters are £9.44.

K & N filters have a 'nut' on the end. Saves a lot of fun getting them off.

My original filter was handtight.

Very handtight but handtight nevertheless so that's what they get done up to.
I set my filter to 25 lb-ft, which you could screw off by hand if your Chris Sharma or Popeye.

That's what they should be, but often aren't. It's that doughnut diet that works for you ,,:)

Got my free oil and filter change due to the oil change notification coming on prematurely!
Also got a hole in the front bumper to the side below the n/s headlight look like it had been stabbed with a screwdriver! Going to fix that at the same time as boot and panel alignment also doing underseal at the same time! I wonder what else it will come back with?
Don't you just love Ford!
