And I think they would really struggle not to honour the warranty for Silverstone! I was invited by the MD of Ford UK after all!
But they only invite people so they don't have to warranty the car. I understand he got a big bonus for coming up with the program. ;)

Ha ha, I can imagine the press coverage now.

'Ford refuse early Mustang buyers warranty claims because they took their cars on a track day arranged by Ford for early Mustang owners'

My 'oil life' read out is showing 67% left after about 1400 miles so it looks like 10k could be a very optimistic service interval for all of us. I haven't exactly been pushing it hard.

My "oil life" is at 68% after 3,300 miles - but I don't do "extreme driving"...
Around 2,000 miles or more have been "motorway cruising" just ticking over at 2,500 revs or so, which I guess will help a lot.

I'll check how much it drops in August after some high speed cruising in Germany.

Wasn't the stock oil that came with the car some low quality crappy stuff with bits in or something? Think I remember Gibbo going on about it.

You'll be lucky to get 6k out of that oil Lmao. Will check mine when home, however don't remember seeing the option when flicking through menu's, but will check :) I'm nearing 1k miles.

When I reset mine at 1500 the monitor was showing 84%....

It's a useful tool, but I'll be changing mine every 5k anyway....

ALL.

I am getting this done under warranty at no cost to myself. It requires an engine oil and filter change and Ford are clear that we should not be paying for this before around 10,000 miles.

Very very nice find... Can you explain how and what you said to make sure that everyone can receive the same quality result that you did?

I think you're confused ;)

The original stuff in the car won't be 'crappy stuff', it will be to Ford spec. I think the 'bits in it' you're thinking of are the inevitable detritus that a new engine generates, which is why some of us (me included) do an oil and filter change much earlier than required. I expect I'll do mine at about 500 miles. This just ensures that any leftovers from the engine assembly (bits of swarf, gasked flash, sealant blobs) are removed from the engine so they can do no damage. That's what the filter is for of course, but better safe than sorry.

That would make more sense lol! Ever the educational stimulant this forum ;). Never ceased to amaze me the new stuff I'll learn on a day to day basis! In my head it was just some barrel of oil (to ford spec, wasn't that stupid!), with bits form the factory in - But makes more sense that it's just wearings and stuff from the actual engine assembly!

Anyway, back to hunting for Steve's way to get this done under warranty as I believe it'll benefit us all!

That's probably why some car manufacturers like BMW have a 'running in service' after say 1500 miles. Not sure why Ford doesn't have the same

The factory oil is full of hard tea leaf size lumps that I sieved out.If you get the dealorship to change your oil and filter early they won't stamp your book unless it has a full fist service.
