it's because of when you car was built v.s. when you got it. it's on a timer 12 months/10,000 miles. your signature says it was built in august of last year. that's why. you're nearly a year into that oil.

I have an oil life of 58% at 870 miles and 3 months. That definitely doesn't sound right.
Checked mine yesterday
built March 22nd
5 weeks I have been driving her for
870miles done
96%

I mentioned earlier that Think Ford Guildford called me in to reset the oil life indicator. A 40 mile round trip but they then said that they would do oil and filter change on warranty. It was booked in for yesterday and the puddle lamp was to be changed also.

An ecoboost was to be my courtesy car.

Returned from working in Cambridge about 1am yesterday morning but duly turned up at the dealer at 730 as asked.

No ecoboost so was given a Kuga?

Called me about 3 hours later saying that they had reset the oil life indicator and that it would not need an oil change.

What a waste of my time and petrol. I was bloody knackered yesterday.

Have to say that the 6speed auto on the 2L diesel of the Kuga was impressive but a weird car tho. My son said it was a typical mum's car lol.

Didn't like the feeling of falling over when cornering moderately.

Hmm. Have mine booked in Saturday to check the oil. Doing my best to convince them they need to change it under warranty but the guy on the phone kept saying it might just be a warning that needs to be reset.

My oil life is sat at 5% which after 9000 miles would seem correct.

But if it needs changing, it needs changing. Happy to pay but dont want to get ripped off - we all know what the dealerships are like. Anyone have a good idea on what they should charge?

I would tell them you know of people (me) who have had the oil changed under warranty for the same fault.

Dont let them just change the oil, get the service done early at the very least.

When mine went in for the fault they tried to charge me the same for an oil and filter change as a service!!

Also, I think getting a service plan is a good idea. I am convinced you will save money and you dont have the outlay in one go.

I did mention that. Not you specifically but I said I know someone. Funnily enough their response was "we haven't heard of this work being completed under the warranty". Of course they haven't. If anyone in these places decided to be productive they would have a nose bleed.

:lol::lol::lol:

The productive ones get head hunted probably ;)!

Just respond with something like "This is required to be done under warranty and under no circumstances will I pay, please contact the warranty teams centrally and they will back up my point and pay for the work - thanks"

Bumping this thread as my car goes in on Monday due to the 'change engine oil soon' warning coming on at just shy of 7k miles.

Has anyone had this done, oil and filter change, through warranty recently, if so can you arm me with the details of the franchise (bonus if it's an Evans Halshaw one) and the process you had to go through.

Thanks

I changed my oil & filter at c1500m anyway.
At c2500m oil change light came on .. so dealer wanted to re set light however I don't believe that you can reset WITHOUT changing the oil & and filter so insisted it be done under waranty as it was thier fault that they forgot to do it!
Which they accepted now the oil is so clean its hard to see on the stick!

It can be reset via the dash menu at any point regardless if an oil and filter change is done or not.

Not sure why people are getting their knickers in such a twist over this? As Diva said, it will also be down to the length of time the oil has been in the car, not just mileage.

Just reset it yourself and get the oil changed as and when it's actually needed/wanted.
