What’s the story with the spare tyre ?
What @spankybranch said. I bought the wheel/tire/jack/tire iron, a couple months ago, and took them as baggage on our flight to Granger/Des Moines.

Been hanggin' with family in Denver the last few days. I don't have time to post pics, but we did the Shelby American Collection and Wings over the Rockies museum while we've been here. Pictures coming tomorrow. 5 States so far, with more to come. We're contemplating hitting Four Corners Monument and add NM, AZ and UT in one shot.

No time like the present.
How many miles so far?
Would you describe Eowyn as a steed worthy of Super Cruiser status?

Got the PS4S tires mounted and the Cup2's shipped home. The PS4S' do not tram line like the Cup2's that I put about 40 miles on. After 300 miles on the new rubber, I really like them, but some of the Iowa road make them sing a little.

Then stopped off at Granger on the way home and took this:

Then we stopped at John Wayne's birthplace in Winterset Iowa

how was the process of shipping the tires back home? i am leaning towards driving the CUP2s back to AZ to avoid all that hassle. unless it wasnt one. to bad Granger wont swap them out and give us a credit.

OMG Colorado DOT SUCKS! and WAZE isn't any better. WAZE took us on a route that had over a mile of fresh oil and pea gravel on a single lane at a time, but they were laying on both sides for a couple miles. So screw WAZE, and why were CO DOT screwing up both side of a 2 lane hwy at the same time. I'll bet I have 5 lbs. of stones in my diffuser. We went to a no touch car wash and she looked great, except for the chip in the windshield. Oh, yeah, we got that from the truck in front of us after the mess above.

Then we decided to mark Arizona and New Mexico on our states visited by going to the Four Corners Monument. We get within 5 miles and a hit construction zone, it didn't look bad at fist, then we hit another one direction at a time zone again.

This time it wasn't the oiled stones, they were just leveling out before paving, again on both sides of the road, with water trucks spraying water to keep the dust down. So three miles of sandy gravel road till we hit the turn off, only to find the guy was closing the gate and wouldn't let us in. We were there exactly an hour before their website said they closed, and would have easily made it before he actually closed the gate had we not had to wait 10 min. for the opposing traffic to come through and our driving 30mph across 3 miles of gravel. Again no warning from WAZE!

There was no way were not going back through the freaking gravel again, so we went 20 miles out of our way, all the way to Shiprock, New Mexico to make a big triangle to avoid the mess and make it back to our hotel.

Other than that it was a pretty good day, 12 hours in the Stang, and we are now over 1600 miles total on the odometer. Colorado and New Mexico are beautiful, but F@CK the Colorado DOT and WAZE!

I had bought the tires over a month ago, and bought 3 pizzas for the Discount Tire crew after they mounted them. We went to UPS to get them to pick them up, but couldn't get anyone to make it work. Then we went back to Discount to ask if they could ship them, and they took pity on us and shipped them home for free. The Assistant Manager said they ship tires all the time and it's only around $10 each to FedEx them.

I would ask ahead of time if they could do it for cost. Or if you have room to get them in the car, run them over to UPS about 5 miles away, and they'll ship them no problem. We just didn't have any room with 2 of us and 2 weeks of vacation stuff, and we couldn't get them pick up at the tire store.

She is AWESOME, 12 hours of crap roads and hazards and I still in love with her! Even at elevations of over 10K feet she runs super strong with a pretty heavy payload.

My wife and I love how her Coyote Howls and Growls! Turned 1650 miles on the clock, and it looks like we'll be over 2500 for the trip, just in time for an oil change.

Wow, so sorry that you had to take your car into that crap!!! Construction is the pits. Riding my touring motorcycle over so many years (no longer unfortunately, thus the Mustang Vert) I always hated construction. The worst: Chip and Seal, and total construction of the roadbed!!! ALWAYS sucked on the bike, and would be the pits with my new car! CO, WY, and UT can make a mess of things. Once in WY they were doing chip and seal — morons ran out of chips (gravel) but went ahead and covered the Highway with tar in both lanes edge-to-edge. Idiots! Heavy rain and total reconstruction of long sections in SD, WY, UT, and northern CA have had me £#%¥?&@$ mad!

Shiprock is a unique landmark, but that whole Shiprock and Farmington areas are depressing!!!

Sorry, and I feel for you. Hope rest of trip goes well!!!

Just as I suspected! Thanks for keeping us all informed and especially for allowing those of us still in waiting to live vicariously through your travels.
Be Safe!
