Thanks I'm probably going Amsoil too. Seems to be the consensus.
I need to get myself one of those "action avatar photos" :D
What specific product are peeps using from Amsoil?

5w-50 Signature Series. I should be receiving mine today actually.
Same. Signed up for their wholesale pricing program. Totally worth it if you think you will stick with their products.

Based on what I saw on the website, Mobil 1 doesn't have any products that meet Ford's specifications.

I'm from the same school as Mustang Guy. I'll be running Amsoil 0w-40 and I won't be tracking this year. I would run the same oil even if I was doing a single HPDE. Who knows, the lighter weight oil may pick up 1-2 mpg's, as well.

Ok, I've been resisting on chiming in on which oil weight to use. But, from what I remember many moons ago when people used to run straight SAE 30, the current crop of oils are called multi viscosity because they have additives that make them stay thin when it's cold and not thin out too much when they get hot. With today's tight clearance engines and better engineered designs and materials, a thin oil like a SAE 5 weight will properly lubricate an engine and makes it easier to start when cold. This also increases gas mileage since there is less oil related friction. When the oil gets hot, like a summer day in the South or a track day, the oil resists turning to water and lunching the engine. In essence, it acts like straight SAE 50 weight oil. Sooooo, I'll be sticking with Ford's recommended 5W-50 but probably using another brand like Amsoil (which so many have recommended). Hope this makes some sense to everyone.

Yea, Mustang Guys input in this thread has been good and definitely has lead to myself (and others no doubt) doing some research. It's good to get more educated.

Unfortunately, his eagerness to use silly animations and enter into arguments makes him look like a child. And I'm nervous about taking motor oil advice from a child.

yup someone in his 40s is a child. I grow tired of the misinformation chose to keep people from spreading bs around. Enjoy your improper weight for the street.
