I bought steeda CAI with out restricter back in November, just getting around to installing it. I need some help, after fighting with getting the main box down and in I went to install the rubber sleeve from the hard plastic to the aluminum part and noticed that the sleeve is a lot bigger and I'm not sure it will pull tight. I ran out of time after a 13 hour long tube header and full exhaust install. The sleeve has about a 1/4 clear all around on the aluminum side... Wtf. Will this draw tight or am I missing something? Thanks

Ran into the same thing. I just tightened it and everything was fine.

Something is not right here... I'm so disappointed with the fitment of this CAI.
I can't get the two parts parallel!

With one hand you need to lift both sides and push toward the engine. Get then lined up and tighten the clamps down. The clamps are really right at the edge of the rubber. It is a very precise fit, not much room for error.

Actually, what you described is the opposite of a precise fit! I will put some muscle into it and see what happens

It doesn't take much effort. Start by putting the clamps (as loose as possible) as far on to the aluminum. Push the rubber as far on to the plastic. Then move both around to line up with each other. There's some pay in the air superstore box. One you have then lined up slide the rubber into a good position. Place the clamps over it and tighten them. The extra room in the rubber before tightening allows for you to peak at the alignment of the plastic and aluminum before tightening. After tightening you should have about half an inch in between the rubber and fan shroud.

I've had to do it twice. The first time I didn't tighten the clamps enough. I suggest once you get it lined up and on, wiggle and pull a bit to check that they are tight enough. It makes a whistle noise if it's not on correctly.

What I did was align the couplers on the maf housing and tb then inserted the plastic tube. Was the only way to get it lined up that made me happy. I did have to adjust it a few times.
I wasn't too happy with the look and fitment either compared to other cai's I have had and seen.

I found it easier to tighten the clamps with a socket rather than a flat-head screwdriver, if that helps any.
