So I have Stainless works headers and full exhaust on my car. My buddy last year had a 2016 Mustang GT CS with Corsa Xtreme catback and his exhaust would occasionally pop if he was driving hard that day.

My exhaust does not pop...at all. I know it sounds like rice and it very well may be but I dont care haha, I work with Porsches all day that pop stock and I just really want that same effect.

Any advice on what to do to my exhaust to make it pop? I am also on a 93 tune.

There's a few things that make exhaust pop. One is overlap happening in the valvetrain when the throttle slams shut and the highly concentrated air fuel mixture gets ignited and sent out the exhaust side fighting a huge pressure release because nothing is coming in to continue the cycle. The other is exhaust gas flow energy buildup deltas that happen with certain chambers in the exhaust or baffles that get released. Then a combo of both. Frankly...pretty rice to actually WANT it. Stay with/get a tune that is good for your engine and driving style. Sure it's cool don't get me wrong. But I wouldn't go out of my way to ask a tuner to make your exhaust pop and crackle. Or (sarcastically and probably unrealistically) get a GT350 and turn it out to redline and abruptly let off the throttle in 4th. This thing sounds like a shotgun when you let off at 8000. Ironic that you did mention this though, I had many comments about it on my last track day.

I completely understand the whole “ricer” epidemic however I don’t think it’s rice if your car can naturally do it. I don’t want it tuned to pop, I just want it to pop naturally like my buddies old GT CS did.
