I installed the C&L Street CAI on my 2017 GT this past Sunday. When I was done, I see that there is an extra valve I didn't use but didnt stress over it since I could not find anything on it on the instructions or had any cable/tube unplugged. So I blocked it off thinking it might have been a valve for another modification I did not have like a turbocharger:

After my engine light came on, I started looking at pictures and videos of other users with this CAI and noticed right away that each one has a connection for each valve. :headbonk: SO which cable am I missing and where can it be? I have looked all over the top of the engine bay and as far in as I can but I cannot find any loose cable. If someone can show me its starting point, I can trace it down. If not, I'm going to have to take it apart again. Keep in mind I don't know much about mechanics so if I can avoid that, it would be great.

Here are some extra pictures that can hopefully help.

Air valve without block off

Picture of overall set up

Pictures of the cable I think i'm missing.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Let me know if you need any other details or pictures from my part. Videos and pictures of other cars with it installed can be found here as well: https://www.americanmuscle.com/cnl-street-cai-1516gt.html

Can't view the posted pics.
If you right click on the broken image you can view it.

Looks like he lost a tube somewhere on his car because all the installed pics of it everyone else has it. I went ahead and hosted his pic so its not broken as well as one of a car with the tube installed.

Is that tube possibly stuck up under the edge of the engine cover? Can't imagine where else it would be unless your car never had it to begin with, but that wouldn't explain a CEL.
I'm going to have to recheck it in the morning when I have more light. Just checking to see if you guys knew exactly which one it was and where it might be hidden/plugged into the wrong place Also to make sure I wasn't crazy And that I am missing one.

To throw a curve ball...Ford changed the vacuum lines up if your car was built after 8/25/16 (check your driver's door sticker for build date). You may not have a line at all and you were correct when you capped the extra one off.

Can you take a pic of the STOCK air intake tube or count how many total ports there are? I bet only 3 total if I'm correct. Prior to 8/24/16, there was 4 total.

I was wondering if they changed it, then we would have to start over to figure out the CEL.

Your curveball hit the strike zone dead center. Didn't even think of checking the old CAĂŤ for ports.

My kit didn't come with a cap to block off the extra valve so I had to drive a bit with the valve open. Could that have caused it? I capped it off this afternoon but the CEL is still on since last time I turned it on about an hour ago. Should I get it checked at an autozone or give it another day to see if it turns off?

Thank you all, really. Like I said, I'm not mechanic savy in any way but I couldn't afford getting it done at the shop so I went for it and was really worried I had messed something up. Especially when you are dealing with air going into the engine.

Yes you will get a CEL for driving it uncapped. The motor was sucking un-metered air so the MAF sensor and o2 sensor were not liking each other. Cap the extra port and go to Autozone and just have them erase the code. Should be good now.

Intake port sleuths here I tell ya.

I can tell you how many ports you should have on your Mustang during its production run...but I can't remember my own wedding anniversary date.:tsk: And I don't even work for Ford lol.
