It always begins with my buddy has lol. Expect to begin spending $$$, as he likely will do if you beat him and then it goes on and on....and then one day, somebody will blow past both of you....always happens.

I work with some Chevy fanatics and they all hang out at a local bar and grill for the Tuesday night car meet that attracts about 100 cars. I talked to these guys a lot and have ridden in and drove their cars. I found out that ZL1s are incredibly easy and cheap to mod for another 100 - 150 hp. I also found out that the manuals have lousy gearing that makes it hard to get them to perform well.

(I used to love showing up with my Porsche for these Tuesday night car meets. It got far more attention than all of their Camaros).

Very interesting. My buddy keeps talking about taking his car to some tuner in Georgia that is supposed to specialize in ZL1s and getting them to 800 crank hp. Who knows.

I’ve never been impressed with stock ZL1s at the strip. All they are is a lot of money for a mid 11 second car at the strip.

Doing Google search,zl 1 clocks 11.5in 1/4 mile with pro drive, the gt auto does 11,8. A tenth is a car length.its all in reaction time in track drag racing. If you can run a perfect lite. 0.5 secs you should beat the manual zl1 as a stock car.if you just put on drag radicals,you should definitely beat the zl1.

That tuner is most likely Vengeance Racing and yep they have built plenty of cars that get that horsepower and more. It tends to be pretty expensive to have that reliable power.

A stock 2015 zl1 manual was running 12.7’s best @ 117 mph at my nose bleed track. My 14 GT/CS was running 12.4-12.5’s with Lund tune @ 112 mph.
