2016 GT PP….I have an annoying rattle at the rear passenger side wheel area. It sounds like metal to metal, like a loose nut, but I cannot find it. It seems to be right at the wheel well and I hear it from inside. Mostly during slow driving and bumpy roads. It’s driving me insane!

The car is lowered on Pedders coils and I have the Steeda IRS bushing kit installed. It’s a pretty stiff ride. I have checked 90% of the suspension in the area and everything seems tight and moving correctly.

Anyone experience or know of anything similar? I have yet to pull about the interior of the trunk to dig around behind there.

Help!!

Before you pull the interior. Go and tap the liner inside the wheel well area. I found a similar rattle on my 2018 GT this way. For some reason, there is a metal clip or a similar contraption in the liner and it rattles against the body. I ended up stuffing foam between the liner and the body to get rid of it. At least give this a try before going further by digging into the interior. Good luck!

A lot of weird stuff can rattle in these cars, and sound travels very strangely also. I had a metal sounding rattle that was coming from the rear passenger side and disassembled the entire interior to find it.

A lot of youtube videos had me checking the rear passenger airbag in the rear pillar. So rear seats came out and so did the large plastic side panel that ran up the pillar. My rattle ended up being the rear decklid panel and passenger taillight assembly. It was loose and the rattle somehow traveled up the metal fender and sounded near the rear passenger wheel from the inside.

So I'd open the trunk and smack around the decklid panel, and smack around the tail lights. But really it could be anything

Will do, thx! I watched the YouTube video on the rattle on the C pillar. Think I’m going to try there first, because from the driver seat, that sounds like the area where the noise is coming from. Fingers crossed, I can find it!

Let us know what you find. I have a very similar noise from the rear passanger wheel area. I checked everything suspension related and it's good but then I had a shoulder surgery so I can't dig any deeper until I'm cleared to move my arm again.

I had (hopefully had) a similar rattle in my Mach 1. There is a metal weld point about right in the middle of the trunk liner on the right side that had enough of a gap where it would resonate against itself. Its located behind the liner. If you smack it there you may hear a rattle/metal on metal noise. Ive currently got 3M tape holding pressure on both sides to prevent it from rattling.

Had to peel back the liner to get to it but so far it's helping...the universe willing of course.

Just an update…. I pulled apart the passenger side trunk liner and the interior piece/armrest next to the backseat. I also removed the interior C pillar cover. Nothing found that was significant or rattling. I put some felt pieces and sound deadening material in a few spots (air bag propellant can, wiring body plugs) that sounded like they could be an issue??

I also banged around the rear tail light areas and trunk lid, but the couldn’t locate a rattle.

Took the car out and it still rattles. I will work on the rear wheel well liner tomorrow. So frustrating!!

Sorry to hear that did not fix it. Try the wheel well liner and tap it to see if you hear a metal on metal sound. Another thing to do is to take off the rear seat bottom and see if anything under the cushion is rattling too. Good luck!
