In 1982 I bought a '73 Roadrunner. Like below but dark green and not in as good of shape.

My wife's best friend in school; her boyfriend had one of these, but
it was a '71 with Red paint and the white broken line over the top.
Sometimes we'd double date with them and my wife would get to drive the car.

Dale had Cherry Bombs on the car and my wife made them sound
off everywhere she could.
Man, them was good times...................

Geez! Some of you have had pretty sweet first cars. My first car was a gray 1987 grand caravan with woodgrain paneling (about 25% of the paneling had fallen off). It was my parents and they let me drive it for about two years after I got my license. It burned and leaked oil like a sumbitch - huge black cloud when you started it up. Took my wife on our first date in that P.O.S - check the gas and fill the oil is what my Dad used to say about the "old gray mare" 🤣

I bought my first car in 1958. It was a 1947 Plymouth I paid $30 for. Back in those days, 50k miles on a car was a lot of miles and this one had 72K miles and looked pretty much like this picture. I didn't know a damned thing about cars and was going to buy a bike when I saw this car for sale and it was cheaper than the bike (I should have bought the bike). The car was fine except it had an early automatic transmission that I think was called Gyromatic. You had to spool it up like a jet engine to get it to move. So, you had to make sure there wasn't any cross traffic in the same zipcode before trying to cross a road from a dead stop.

I thought I was going to be one of the "cool" kids when I showed up at school with my car, but it was the envy of absolutely nobody! I ended up keeping it for about 3 weeks.

66' Fairlane, I bought it in 1980. Turned into a drag car and raced it until 1985 when I sold it. The purchaser still has and races it.

My first car was a 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. At this time my pal had a 1982 Mustang GT. I loved that car, its what got me into mustangs. I bought a 1986 GT after that and had many mustangs since. Funny my pal isnt even interested in cars, he drives like a VW or something like that now LOL

1967 AMC Marlin. Blew the engine, so I found one in a junkyard to swap out. It was a boat with a huge trunk. Lots of cases of beer fit in there! For winter, put on big ol J78 snow tires and trucked through deep snow.
Not mine but same color:

I don't have a pic of it but my first was a 1978 t-bird with a 351M in dark blue with a gray vinyl top and gray velour interior. It was the last generation of the land whale t-birds, they were way smaller than the 76, but still huge.

A 1969 SS Camaro 396 4 Speed. It was a car we bought when I was 10 and restored. Sadly it was a highly options low mileage car. 16,000 miles on it. It belonged to a kid that was killed in Vietnam. We got it in 1990 and finished it in ‘95. Wish we still had it, it would be quite valuable now 😭

Mine was a 1973 Datsun 240z.
Tons of fun but a bit of a rust bucket.
Had a 4 barrel Holley conversion.

Not mine in the pic, but had mine set up just.like this:
