Nice! Airaid??
Yes I'm going to give it a shot. I found it cheaper then airaid has it listed for on there site plus I think it looks good too. Also I have no patience to attempt to build my own. I'm eager to get the ball rolling on modding my car I need to get my headers put on and my exhaust done and then there will be the intake too. Should see some nice gains.

That is freaking awesome bruh, screw CAIs made by different companies start manufacturing yours. make some profit
Haha while I would actually love to do that it is just a bit impractical.... :( Those PCV connections were made with a lathe that I don't own / have access to whenever I want. If I could I would!

Haha so back onto the CAI...

Driving impressions: MY GOD!! :D:headbang::hail: I never expected to have this much of a difference in sound. It sounds aggressive like it should be! The PCM has seemed to have relearned its parameters which has made the performance increase that much more apparent. Traction control no longer works on 0-60's :D My best time thus far as been the 5.5 with TC off. The car is more eager now as well. No more hesitation (aside from the auto playing catchup). Oh and I think I might have effected mpg as well.... Its hard to quantify exactly how much it has improved since the weather has warmed up as well. It seems as though my average for my daily commute will go up to 29mpg! That is up from 27mpg when it was still warm in 2014 and up from 26mpg during the winter.
I had wondered about CAI's if their benefits mostly only come into play when a car is being run on a track (or hard on the street for extended an period) and the engine compartment heat soak raises the TB intake air temp very high.

I am not planning to be running my V6 to max heat soak conditions. I was hoping the CAI gained HP/torque under normal daily driver conditions.

Zach, from what you reported, it seems a CAI does have daily driver benefits. Good to know. Since it has been almost two months since your last report on your CAI experience, how about an update? MPG, HP, torque gains? An audio from inside car for the 'sound effects would be a bonus too! ;)

I am watching the development thread (link below) on the Truefiber aftermarket hood that has a functional hood scoop! :headbang:

They are designing it for the GT (obviously ;)). I have asked, but not been answered if this would fit or they would make one for the V6 with it's tighter under hood clearances. I can dream!

Any idea if there was additional outside air able to be supplied to a CAI, if it would add any measurable advantage? Or is the CAI already supplying all a stock n/a intake/engine needs (for a daily driver situation)?

I have been watching that hood as well! Want a bit more 15 focused design instead of the 14 carry over but it is still a nice hood! Overall a well placed CAI will probably see little benefit to the functional hood scoop. Now if this hood was used with either the stock airbox or airaids CAI I think it would provide much needed air! Especically on the stock airbox. The inlet on both of these systems is barely the area of a 3" pipe. For reference I used 4" on my CAI.

As far as my CAI, its been great! Very noticeable mid range power increase with better throttle response. It is no longer hesitant to move if you will. Mpg has improved by about .5-1. Not much by any means but still an improvement.

What, Airraid has the same inlet tube size to it's air box?? Their improvement then is only via better flow through their filter and maybe a larger tube from their air box to the TB?

I choke on spending $500 for a CAI. Now even more knowing the Airraid does not increase inlet tube size! If an aftermarket hood with functional air intake could be designed (AND SOLD TO US V6'ers ! ! ! ! ) that converted the stock air box to have the same or better cold air inflow as JLT or Airraid, that would make the hood $500 more cost effective. ;)

I'd much rather spend $1200 to $1500 for a scooped hood w/ CAI converting the OEM air box to function way better, than spend $500 on just a CAI.
