Im curious what you guys are putting into the MT82 on the 2015 , was told now that we have to use dual clutch transmission fluid as the internals compared to the s197 mt82 are now different

I use Amsoil. Severe gear 75W-90 and add DOT-4 brake fluid also.

I put in factory spec fluid with XL-18 additive and I am very happy with the results.

Royal Purple Synchromax has the additive already

from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Royal-Purple-...pebp=1440965978774&perid=17GB6DR97HV50741X88C

Q: Will this work on a 2015 Mustang GT with a manual transmission?

A: If your transmission calls for Ford XT-11-QDC, the Synchromax is the correct Royal Purple product. Here is the reference guide from RP: http://www.royalpurpleconsumer.com/...le_Transmission_Lubricant_Cross_Reference.pdf

See page 281 from: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...-Owners-Manual-version-1_om_EN-US_07_2014.pdf

Ford Motorcraft QDC with XL-18 additive...shifts like a hot knife thru butter! I have also heard great results can be garnered with AMSOIL Synchromesh

The Motorcraft can't be that good or there wouldn't be all the complaints prompting people to try other fluids.

It is not that good unless the XL-18 is added.

My stock fluid was notchy.

My big syncroshift was smooth, but noisy.

Motorcraft QDC with xl-18 is best....smooth and relatively quiet.

While I cannot prove anything, I feel confident the XL-18 was not added to the stock fill.

I just put the synchromesh in last week. When cold the car shifts like it always did but once it warms up it's 100x better than the factory fill.

I've been to 2 tranny shops today and both told me that changing the fluid would probably void the warranty. Anyone know if this is true? Transmission is very noisy and wanted to try using Royal Purple but I do not want to void the warranty.

As had been said by many, oil is the transmission's life blood. If you have any issues with the gearbox down the road that the dealer can point to lubrication as a factor in, you can bet they'll at least try to void the warranty for that part.

Essentially, for better or for worse, the transmission was validated in the Ford lube, and that's what's known (to Ford) to be "safe". I'd be surprised that they'd have a case if the oil was the same spec (ie, same weight, grade, type etc) but simply just a different brand. However, if you change the type of oil or weight, I think you'd have a much tougher time getting them to honor the warranty on the failed part. They could simply claim that the different oil didn't meet the transmission's requirements and that was the cause of the failure - thus being your fault, not Ford's.

Everything I've seen says the xl18 was already added in the factory fill.
