More catch can advice

I have a track event next weekend and haven't put a catch can on like Ford recommends. I had decided on the UPR based on what I've seen here and ease of installation but I've called them and they aren't open. I just realized they are in FL and possibly impacted by the storms. Any other recommendations that could get shipped pretty quick?

The Ford Performance air/oil separators should ship quickly from any of the normal vendors.

Passenger side is more important than the driver's side.

JLT version 3 works very well. It is a toss up between the two. Can't go wrong with either.

Granted, the JLT is a lot easier (you can just twist the knob on the bottom), but it's like 30 seconds to remove the Ford one... :shrug:

Just wait, the car isn't gonna blow up if you don't have one on there. I did 2 track days before I got mine. BTW, I believe UPR is up and running again.

Ford ones are a pain in the ass to empty, I am planning to swap to JLT on both sides...

I am also a bit sus on the volume caught by the Ford ones, it's not much in there even after 3000 miles, and 2 track days. Driver side was not even wet, completely dry.

I am somewhat reluctant to ask this, but what exactly do the catch cans do? I am an intermediate driver on the track. I have run two events this year, have two more days remaining, and will average about eight days a year. I have a 2017 with 1100 miles and no catch cans.

The can traps and removes most of the extra oil that accumulates in the intake tract before going to the throttle body and back into the cylinders, Which would dilute the intake charge. The mesh captures the oil film and causes droplets to collect in the bottom of the can.

They all pretty much work the same, you won't see a difference in what is collected with the other brands. Everyone's drivers side picks up little or no oil, that's the nature of the beast.

I have the Ford Racing ones as I don't want any hassles at the dealer (I know technically it doesn't matter). I don't understand the comments about emptying them. I unscrew the top, use a couple paper towels to soak up the oil and close it again. Both sides takes less than 5 minutes. Never have any oil in the driver's side, but I track my car, so I'm cool with the unnecessary protection
