gt3 wont be mid engine
Unlike the Mustang road car, the Mustang GT3 uses a rear transaxle gearbox, which Rushbrook said is primarily to help even out weight distribution. This might also allow Ford to move the V-8 further back in the chassis than in the street car,

I’m going to say it’s the Mustang GT3 street version which will be called the Mustang GT Daytona (GTD). It is supposed to debut at the 2024 Daytona 24 hours race in January 2024. Kind make sense to me.

The real question: will it have the totally uninspired dash of the lesser S650s?

I like to disassemble things.
This is not the mid-engine Mustang referred to in the article. This isn't a mid-engine car. The article clearly stated the mid-engined Mustang would NOT be based on the S650 platform, and that is.
I never said it would be mid engine'd. I said more than once that it would utilize a CF driveshaft (hint, hint).

The upcoming GT3 racecar is front engined. Not mid.
If Ford actually wants to race their GT3 in the LeMans series, they have to build 300 road-going versions. Those will be front engined, just like the race car. It would have to be, as LeMans GT3 Mustangs have to be based on the S650 platform. The article made it very clear that the mid-engine car will not be.
The article can talk about mid engine cars all day, whatevs.

Clickbait. That looks like the GT3 car which is built by multimatic I believe.
It is not clickbait. And there's a reason why it looks like the Multimatic GT3 race variant...

Finally. Some logic.

Seeing as Ford is giving the S650 some Fox Mustang cues-they are digging up this racer from the 80's: adding airbags, stability control with a twin turbo Coyote V8 and call it a day!

@Jmeo @Epiphany I’m thinking Porsche GT3/GT3RS as the price comp. Thoughts?

Not questioning Epiphany's predictions as for sure he's more reliable than some clickbait internet site, but what are the side scoops for ? Tacked on to mislead ? They thought they look good (like some weird people on this forum that would tack them on to their front engined cars) ?

Btw, this discussion here it's somewhat amusing as this will be a vehicle unavailable to just about anyone here (sadly) - last time Multimatic made a street legal Ford, it was $400k+.

It wasn't long ago and the word was "more than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS" which started at around $225,000. This latest surge and announcement has it starting at 300k. Loaded up with everything I cannot imagine what the ceiling will be.

I assure you that nothing on this car is tacked on.

I'm interested in a number of things such as (and I'm only opining on the street variant):

- If the powerplant is Coyote based, I'd guess to keep costs down that you would see a max of 5.2 liters (of note, given that reports have indicated the race version will be 5.4 liters) along with a supercharger, similar to the Predator.

- Where will the engine be assembled? England (ala the race variant at M-Sport) doesn't make sense. Roush/Yates certainly has experience in this realm. I suppose a specialized run alongside V8 Raptor engine production has potential too.

- Front suspension. Hoping for SLA as we've begged for decades now for it to happen. I don't see it being MacPherson strut based given the complexity and seriousness at the rear of the car.

- Carbon tub? Tubular steel chassis? Lightweight glass? Entire body made from composite? I only know that it doesn't make sense to tool up to do much sheetmetal if the production numbers are going to be extremely low.

- And this may sound silly but I'm genuinely excited that Multimatic does the dash right and completely abandons the production-style "laptop planted on the dash next to a widescreen TV" look. They have an opportunity to outdo Porsche's best analog style gauges but something tells me that people at Ford want it to be all digital (please God, no!).

Hopefully tomorrow answers a lot of questions.

My first thought on the mid engine thing this morning after seeing the pics was front mid but didn’t want to say anything because I’m usually wrong on this prediction stuff.

Definitely looking forward to the release.
I like it a lot but it’s going to be out of my price range unfortunately.
