I am switching over from 275/35/R20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (square setup) to a staggered setup with 19s.

I heard a lot of people prefer a 35 over a 30 and I wanted to know why?

NOTE: Since i am switching to a 19s and MPS4S don't come in 35s i wanted to know if it was worth dropping to a 30

The switch to 30 series occurs when you switch to a 20 inch rim as far as I know.

What are the staggered wheel sizes? If the rears are 11", Michelin 305/35/19 PSS are a great tire. That's what I did. Also for my 10" front wheel I went with Continental ECS 285/35/19. These sizes almost match the stock radius exactly so it won't mess up your speedo.

I run 305/35/19 4PS square. My ride is super smooth. But I am a track rat so…

Right.

People run a set of MPSS instead, which they still make in that 305/35 size.

Or drop down to a 295/35 MP4S.

I didn't completely read the whole post but I didn't see a response for one being better than the other. There is another thread that may answer your question.

Even with 20s, most of us go with a 35 series.
Why? When I got my 20s I used the calculator and to stay within closest to stock radius it recommended 30 series, and the distributor also recommended 30 series. I don’t really notice much of a ride quality difference with the magnaride. Is it to preserve sidewall for ride quality?
