They are similar, you get manual transmission and around 400 horses... The mustang may be bigger on the outside, but in the inside its not that big.

The mach 1 non hp drives closer to a GT to be honest, just less floaty. It still understeers like the GT at the limit and has the same vague steering feel. I took mine to the track and I was not super confident with only 255s up front.

I assume the HP mach 1 is a different story, though

At the risk of stating the obvious, It all depends on your skill and comfort level with track driving and with a car at this level of performance. 255 width PS4s are honestly more than plenty for the vast majority of drivers up to around the upper intermediate level at your typical HPDE... Which means they're good enough for like 99.8% of prospective buyers lol. The car straight from the factory (with or without HP) will be capable well beyond the skill level of any first time track-goers.

I beg to differ about the interior space. no back seats hampers a lot of stuff you can carry around.
I been in Z's and there is no space to be had. If it doesn't matter to you as a shopper then it all good. V8 power is dying fast :( better lock you in a S650!

I find it quite interesting that people cross shop the Z and the "new supra" with the Mustang.
The Mustang GT is more of a grand touring sports car. It's supposed to be big and comfy. You won't get "big" in either of those two.
I cross shopped the following cars. Why? Because there are so few front engine, rear wheel drive performance cars made now.

ND Miata (I'm too fat, and already had one)
Toyota 86 (really wanted one and was more economical for track consumables, but wife wouldn't go for it she wanted the mustang)
Subaru BRZ
Toyota Supra (not a manual and small inside)
Z
Z4 (too boring)
A couple BMW's
Camaro (visibility no)
GT350 (lack of warranty plus used prices went up $15k since covid hit)
Tesla Model 3 Performance (decided to wait for technology to improve, and ugly, wish they had a performance sports car that was smaller/lighter)
Corvette (too much money nowadays both new and used)

I feel like you wouldn't shop for a new car as a dedicated track slut.
If you want the best of both worlds you already have the best cars up there for that.
I would personally stay away from any bimmer unless you have deep wallets, or your going to gut them and run your own electronics package and get rid of the finniky bmw shit.
I'm waitng to have my track slut when i come back it will be cheap rwd and very fast.

Yes, I understand they have different motors, but mainly looking for feedback on ride and feel.

Read what he said again. The main difference is the engine.

I've driven GT350s and now my Mach 1 HP, the HP feels more planted/sorted than a standard GT350. I haven't driven an R though.

the 350 is just a different feeling beast. the way it pulls from 5k thru 8k is crazy. add in the sound and the look of it, people love that beast. i have had 2 Coyote's, one supercharged, neither gave me feels like the 17 GT350 i drove.

Having owned a 2016 S550 GT PP, a 2019 GT350, and a 2022 Mach 1 non-HP, I disagree completely. The Mach 1 is much more planted than a GT and is much more confident in turns. The difference between it and the 350 is the power plant and the high end revving and a slightly harsher ride in the 350. The Mach 1 feels more like a Grand Tourer that you can push and the Coyote is actually more satisfying for 70% of driving than the Voodoo. That Voodoo sound though is unmatched.
