Hey guys, I'm creeping up on a thousand miles and I think I may change the oil early after break-in at 1000.
Any tips. Is it much different than my 15GT which I've done many times?
I read there is some kind of gt350 oil filter adapter, what does this mean for me?
Planning on doing 10qts Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5W30 is what I think the weight is.
Thanks

It's no different than any other car out there. Drain the oil, change the filter and be done with it.

Check your owners manual. There are probably 1-2 members here that just got a Mach 1 so I doubt anyone has any experience with it. It should be all the same.

Actually, it is quite a bit different, although the basic concept is the same. Your '15 had the old-school steel threaded drain plug in a steel oil pan. Unless I'm mistaken, Your Mach has a large-diameter yellow plastic plug in a plastic oil pan requiring no tools.

Assuming you've got the yellow plastic plug, I would suggest you invest in the Ronin Factory oil plug setup. Unless you're supremely talented, you'll probably make a hell of a mess the first time you change oil. I wasn't so talented the first time I changed oil in my '19 F150 with the 5.0, and not even the second time during which I installed my Ronin; both changes were miniature Exxon Valdez events on my shop floor. The Ronin plug lets you use a hose to get the oil in your drain pan where it belongs.

Did you put oil on the oil filter gasket when you changed the oil

Thanks for this advice!
Well, did the first oil change on the Mach 1 at 2800 miles yesterday.
Couple things…
-my race ramps no longer work on the front of the Mach, it must sit way lower than my 15gt. Also the rake and splitter probably play a role too.
-the plastic drain plug is weird, first time seeing one like this. My permanent replacement UPR plug inspires confidence, nicely made!
- oil filter seems to be moved and is quit easy to get too. Got it off by hand and hand tightened as hard as I could on the new one. For the record I put the slightest rub around the ring of the filter with my oily finger… just couldn’t do a dry gasket.
Against my religion.. lol
- 10 quarts of fresh motorcraft 5w30 full synthetic..
She is purring like a kitten!

Your question and then the subsequent answers are exactly why I’ve leased my last 4 cars. I let the dealer handle the issues to include free oil changes. A more expensive way to go, but those of us that are clueless have little choice. If I’m still in love with the car at lease end I have the option to purchase.

I just can’t let common dealership mistakes happen to my baby.
I guess if you lease who cares right.
No mods for you though.. Lol

You are correct. My 2014 GT has all the mods I need, so I’m staying stock With the Mach.

Do the Mach1s have the same oil filter as the GT? Will be changing mine shortly
