Hi Charlemagne. That all makes sense. Unfortunately though the PSS 295/35’s are not available in Aus. Options with that spec in the Michelin range are limited to either the Cup 2’s, of which I avoided due to wet weather performance, and the PS4S. Both were difficult to find in the sizes I wanted at the time. My only other option would have been the Continental SC6s but with imports affected by the Covid Pandemic (Oct 2021), even they were impossible to find. So was more than happy to finally get my new HP rims on with the set of PS4S’s, which fall within Michelins rim specs. Oh and that slight stretch helps somewhat with the law here. They tuck in a bit .@OZMACH Yes, it works fine on the rims, the slight stretch is due to narrower tread width. The look is just cosmetics but there is functional aspect too. Supposedly that tire is meant specially for 10" rims on Mercedes as mentioned in another topic.
When you check specs on Tirerack.com, tread widths are:
PS4S 295/35 = 9.8"
PS4S 285/35 = 10"
PS4S 275/40 = 10.1"
PSS 305/35 = 10.7"
PS4S 305/30 = 11.1"
PS4S 315/30 = 11.7"
SportContact 6 295/35 = 11.6"
From this you can see that the oem size 275/40 has wider contact area than 295/35 so it kinda beats the purpose of going wider. That's why the tyre looks quite a bit stretched. I don't have any stretch with the PSS 305/35. Even that one could have wider tread width but alas. Too bad you had to walk this road down for us but hopefully there'll be better options in the future.
