Today my 2017 GT350 went into limp mode. Up until today it has never caused any troubles. The engine is stock with no tune. My temperature was 230. Any idea what went wrong?

I assume you were street driving and not tracking the car? If so, that would likely rule out a tranny or rear diff overheating.
I will also assume you got a wrench icon on the dash just to the right of the ODO?

If both are true, it could be a variety of sensors that trigger limp home mode, from MAF sensor, throttle body, even a brake pedal sensor that monitors the rear brake lights engaging. So you need to have the code read to determine. Hopefully just a sensor replacement somewhere.

Check your oil life monitor as well, it will send you into limp mode if it gets too old or has not been reset after a oil change

What temp was 230?

An overheating diff probably wont get you into limp mode.

A failed circulating pump or blocked transmission fluid cooling system can trigger limp mode on the streets in certain circumstances. You should have seen a spike in the transmission temp of this was the case.

Weather 75-80 or above with
  • Stop and go traffic
  • Aggressive driving
  • Driving w extended time in the upper RPM range.
Limp mode is protective for a number of conditions. I forget all of them. It might not be transmission temp related..

Unusual to hear on a ‘17.

Could be a lot of things, did a wrench light come on? You could check for pending codes with an obdII bluetooth adapter and an app on your phone. Could be a ton of things from like MAF sensor to a ton of other things

Can you post more info as to how the car was being used before it went into limp mode? Did you get any visual dash lights and if so, which?

Did you go into Engineer mode via the dash cluster to see the stored codes?

Any fluids on the ground or have you checked fluid levels after car cooled down?

Did you have to get the car towed, or were you able to get it going again?

This thread is just about limp....

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am trying to get it to do it again under the same circumstances.
